Bittersweet Blackout

Red lights seemed to mock as us we stopped for them. They laughed at my misery and they were in no rush to turn green. The news was just too much to handle. My vision blurred because of the waterfalls that flowed like salty rivers from my eyes. Then everything went black. I felt nothing, and that nothingness was bittersweet

"Wake up Danni!" Hakiem shouted. I opened my eyes. Blood dripped down my face. There was a wide cut going down my leg, but I felt no pain. The wind shield was broken and the passenger side window shattered all over me and the shards glistened in my hair.

"What just happened?" I asked.

"We got hit. Are you okay?" Hakiem said. I noticed the blood flowing from his arm.

"I'm fine. Just a couple of stratches."

Hakiem grabbed some old papers from his glove box and stepped out the car and walked towards the silver Toyota that caused the accident. I nursed my cuts with Hakiem's old t-shirt then I followed close behind.

He knocked on the dark tinted window and waited... no answer.

"The guy in there is probably hurt. Try and open it." I said. Hakiem opened the door and there sat Angie, smiling, showcasing her new missing front teeth.

"Hey lovebirds. How y'all doing?"

"Fucking awesome. What the fuck is wrong with you Angie?" I screamed.

"Oh he didn't tell you yet?" Angie chuckled. Hakiem backed away slowly.

"Oh don't walk away now Kiemy baby. Wanna tell her together?" Angie asked.

"Tell me what? Hakiem, what's going on?" I said, grabbing his hand.

"This bitch is fucking crazy that's what."

"Oh I'm crazy? Remember when you fucked me like crazy?" Angie said happily. "Good times."

"Wait. What the hell does she mean?" I snatched my hand away.

"We made love Danni." Angie said.

"I don't love you Angie!" Hakiem screamed.

"Oh yeah, I'm just a pretty piece of ass that got your dick wet for the cam. Probably because your bitch was to busy taking care of her nasty hoe ass momma. Hey Danni you wanna see the video? I know you'll love it." Angie said, wiping the dripping blood from her mouth.

"Who the fuck are you talking to? Bitch get out the car. Now." I growled. She stepped out and got into my face. "Wassup?" I said. Then she took a step back and spat in my face.

"Danyelle don't!" Hakiem screamed but it was too late. I punched her in her face and she fell onto the cold concrete. Porch lights came on and tiny pairs of eyes peeked through their curtains. But no one came to her aid as I continued punching, kicking and stomping Angie into the pavement. Then all of a sudden a warm liquid streamed down my pant leg. Immediately I eased up on Angie's beaten body and turned around to Hakiem and said, "I think it's time. We gotta go."
