Chapter 8: THE HUNT FOR SKOLAS PART 3

(Vex Fortress of The Citadel, Planet Venus)

" Teng, new orders from the Queen. She wants Skolas captured alive. I live to serve, of course. Just makes things a little harder, that's all. You'll be the tip of the spear. Get down there, find him and pin him. I'll be nearby with a capture team of Prince Uldren's Crows. " Petra reminded over comms.

" Got it, I'll take Skolas as soon as I can. " Tengfei rushed to the Citadel from the Vault of Glass where he had just finished stopping a Wolf effort to put the Vex Network in their hands.

" The team and I just set down in a canyon a few kilometers from the Citadel. When you find him, we'll be ready. "

" You heard your gal, Teng. Just get along." his Ghost teased him.

" Seriously, we're on a mission! Let's just go! " he blushed and set off along the path towards the Citadel.

" So, he tried to conquer the other Fallen Houses and failed. Maybe now it's about the weapons? Outfitting the Wolves with Vex instruments of war? " Petra asked.

" If Skolas thinks he is Kell of prophecy, then weapons could turn the tale," Variks replied.

" Guys, I'm ready. " he stated as he reached a series complex of Vex structures. He entered the Citadel and fought his way past several Vex into the entrance of the massive Citadel Tower.

" Whatever he's up to, I've got a bearing on that signal. Top of the tower.  Better start climbing Tengfei. "

Tengfei fought through a couple of flights of stairs and a couple of hallways occupied by Vex. He enters a large room open to the sky, with a tall lift protected by a shield. Vex and Fallen were fighting intensely in the room.

" Hmm. Strong gravity distortion at your location. " Petra reminded.

" Well, I need to get to that lift. " the Warlock Kree replied.

" You mean you're gonna jump? " Mulan raised her voice.

" Let's see what I can do, " he smirked as he ran towards the fray.

He chucked a Void grenade in between a couple of Vex and Fallen, killing them before shooting a few more with his Vestian Dynasty. A Wolf Reaver Captain stopped him in his tracks with a Scorch Cannon, blasting him point blank with it. Tengfei hit the ground hard, the tingling burns of the cannon's Solar energy poking at him.

The Reaver Captain was preparing for another shot, but Tengfei got the first draw and shot the cannon itself, blowing it up in the Captain's face. He sighed and brushed himself off before approaching what appeared to be a control panel for the lift. He deployed Mulan to hack it. She suceeded with a cheerful blip and Tengfei used the lift, letting himself float upwards.

" I was House Judgment scribe. I stood with Skolas for much of Reef Wars. Now, I stand with you in Judgment of Wolf Kell. That feels...right somehow." Variks spoke.

" I see. At least we could find more clues from you Variks. "

The lift deposited him at the top of the Citadel. There was a massive chasm between him and the next area. Small platforms flickered in and out of view across the void. A Ketch could be seen in the distance.
