Chapter 9: Wang Tengfei (Kree Voidwalker)

(THE REEF, ASTEROID BELT)

Tengfei and Mulan were brought back to the Reef. He had woken up in his Jumpship after passing out post his fight with Skolas. When he exited, he found a gathering of Petra, Variks, and an assembly of Awoken Guards standing at attention. They were waiting for him.

" Hey... Did I miss something?" he asked.

" The Queen smiles upon you Tengfei. You've done well, and as such..." Petra brought out what looked like a pistol wrapped in cloth with the Queen's symbol on it. She handed it to the Kree.

" Thank you. Even I'm not part of your Awoken race. You still accept me in this duty. "

" Let's just say that the Queen accepts you as an honorary member of our people. Though you might not be Awoken by birth, you are now through your deeds. Thus, it is my honor to grant you one of the Queen's greatest weapons. Her Mercy." Petra removed the wrapping, revealing a purple-pinkish Revolver engraved with the Queen's symbol on its barrel.

" Wow! "

" Nice gun, Confucius! " Mulan beamed.

" Congratulations." Petra whispered to Tengfei, even winking at him subtlety.

" Thanks... " the Kree Voidwalker blushed his face in purple and smiled at her.

" That is all and good Tengfei, but this humble scribe asks one more thing of you." Variks said approaching him.

" Yes? "

" House Wolves still threat. Wolf Mercenary on Moon, scouring for Hive secrets for Wolves. He knows not of Skolas defeat, kill him, finish Wolf tyranny."

" I'm willing. "

" Good! " his purple Ghost happily exclaimed.

" We also have a new ship for you, issued personally from Prince Uldren's Crows." Petra pointed to a new light blue ship that was hovering behind him. Tengfei was stunned to see the complexity and beauty of the space vehicle as his face was filled with wonder. Petra also directed him to a Bike-like Vehicle which she said was called a Sparrow. Now, Tengfei had an excellent source of mobility on the ground.

" Wow! Not to be rude, but this seems better than the one I was using! "

" See? " Mulan raised her voice. " Now, you got a new crib to ride on! "

" Prince Uldren is usually not this friendly. But considering you're now considered an Awoken with a great honor, I think he's being generous this once." Petra commented.

" I see! Thank you! I'll add more modifications in this one after this mission. " Tengfei smiled and felt excited for his new ship.

" More Kree Tech inside the Awoken ship? " Mulan asked.

" Yes, it is possible. As much as I can use some of my resources. "

" Go now 'Awoken', find Taniks, finish Wolf Hunt. "Tengfei nodded and parted from Petra and Variks, hopping aboard his new ship and flyingoff.

" Next Destination, Earth's moon! " his Ghost exclaimed.

(TENGFEI'S PERSONAL CERES GALLIOT, EN ROUTE TO THE EARTH'S MOON)

" Taniks has no House. He kneels before no banner, owes allegiance to no Kell. He is a murderer, and very good at what he does. I have been tracking him since Wolves broke their chains, yes? Now Taniks works for Wolf Pack...but not for long. " Variks explained.

" I'll take down Taniks as soon as possible. " Tengfei nodded.

" Right you are! " Mulan added.

(TEMPLE OF CROTA, OCEANUS PROCELLARUM, LUNA)

The Kree and his Ghost landed on the dark and rough surface of the moon. He arrived at a large archaic like entrance. Petra told him about the Hive and especially this place, the Temple of Crota. Two Hive Shriekers guarded the entrance. He heard Variks's voice inside his helmet.

" Taniks has been sent to plunder the Hive. Your job, just as simple: Avenge the dead. Stop him from stealing the Dark. " he reminded.

" I beat the Kell of Kells, this shouldn't be any harder. " Tengfei responded and continued onward inside the Temple, killing any Hive who got in his way. Tengfei then began descending through the Temple, through many dark hallways and open areas with Hive occupying everywhere.

" Taniks sees you not as an enemy—you are a trophy to collect. Watch yourself, Taniks is no common mercenary. He fights to fulfill a contract and hone his combat skill for... fun. Be cautious as you confront him, he will to try trick you. Fight. Win... I remember Taniks from the Reef Wars. Many Awoken dead. Clever, clever creature. "

Tengfei made his way to the bottom of the Temple, where an enormous battle raged allaround him. Fallen Wolf Captains, Dregs and Stealth Vandals clashed against the Hive Wizards, Thrall and Ogres. Tengfei thought he could either ignore the fight and continue
down the darkened halls of the chamber, or eliminate the enemy. He decided to sneak past him to save time, using his surrounding to his advantage. He then made it to the Chamberwhere multiple Fallen wolves waited.

" Lift field distortion! Ketch just above you! "

" What the?! " Tengfei gasped, looking up the lift to see part of the Ketch Variks just mentioned.

" Now, dodge what you can, Kree guy and then clobber them down! " Mulan ordered.

Several Dregs armed with Shrapnel Launchers descended from the lift and engaged him. Several Vandals and Stealth Vandals also arrived as well. Tengfei smiled, brandishing his brand new hand cannon against them. The weapon worked like a charm, killing the Fallen Wolves even faster than the Vestian Dynasty did.

Soon, Taniks himself appears, armed with a Scorch Cannon. Tengfei fought the mercenary until he retreated back into his ship. He uttered a taunt in the Fallen language.

" Taniks has called you out Awoken. You are challenged in the ways of old..."

" Doesn't matter, he'll fall the same way Skolas did. " Tengfei determinedly said.

" You tell em! " Mulan exclaimed as she hovered around her master. Tengfei entered the lift which took them inside Tanik's Ketch. Taniks' roar of laughter echoed around the walls ofthe ship.

" Taniks is jamming our comms. Fight well, Awoken. Fight for honor! " Variks exclaimed until his voice faded. Tengfei reloaded his hand cannon and aimed it forward.

" Okay, let's do this! " his Ghost raised her voice.

Tengfei ventured through the Ketch before reaching a large room with several doors. Dozens of Fallen entered from all sides. With a loud and angry roar, Taniks once again challenged the Kree where he stood. Tengfei managed to ward off the Fallen Wolves and simultaneously deal damage against Taniks. The mercenary eventually was injured enough and teleported from the room. A door on the farside of the room opens, and the Kree continued into what appeared to be a hangar.

" Now, what's next? " Tengfei asked.

" Let's explore shall we? " Mulan answered.

Several Vandals awaited, and Tengfei eliminated most of them before Taniks laughed over the speaker system of the Ketch as a Wolf Walker dropped in from the ceiling. Again, dozens of Fallen Vandals, Stealth Vandals, Captains and Exploder Shanks poured infrom several entrances and fire upon Tengfei.

" He's not making this easy..."

With tremendous effort, he was able to fight through the Fallen Wolves, only suffering a few gunshot wounds which Mulan healed. All that was left was the Walker which Tengfei destroyed with a powerful Nova Bomb.

Another door opened, and a few Dregs and Shanks approached. Tengfei killed them easily and continued onward. As he walked down the hallway, Taniks teleported a few feet away from them, taking him by surprise. In the narrow hallway, his Scorch Cannon became much more difficult to avoid and he hit Tengfei head on, killing him again. Mulan resurrected Tengfei when Taniks disappeared and the Kree Voidwalker struggled his way onto his feet and brushed himself off.

" Man, I hate Scorch Cannons..." he sighed.

" Here's the thing, Teng. These guys will give you a clobbering party if you fail to fight them. Now, you need to put on your best dance ever. Got me, Confucius? " she explained.

" As you say so, madam. " he nodded.

" Good! "

Tengfei found Taniks again and beat him into a large room, where the final battle began. Taniks issued orders and taunted in Fallen dialect as Tengfei and him clashed. Taniks cunningly allowed him to get the drop on Tengfei many a time, dealing signficant damage to the Kree Voidwalker.

Tengfei stepped up his game by firing at Tanik's prosthetics, breaking them easily and immobilizing the Mercenary. Taniks fired his scorch cannon but was only able to knock the Voidwalker back as the shot had landed just a few feet in front of him.

Tengfei regained his footing as Dregs and Vandals rushed forward to attack the Kree. He killed them with his hand cannon before mustering up enough Void Energy to put down theimmobilized Taniks. The mercenary shriked, even cursing Tengfei in Eliksni before dying in front of him.

" Notorious mercenary dead. No small matter. You will be rewarded treasure from the Queen. And more of my respect, as well..." Variks said.

" Hǎo gōngzuò, Téngfēi! (Good job, Tengfei!) " Mulan moved closely to her master.

" Xièxiè! (Thank you!) " he smiled and received a call from Petra.

" Teng, we may have captured Skolas on Venus and locked him away, but that wasn't enough. Wolf activity is still being picked up, they still operate knowing their leader is alive in our captivity. The Queen has ordered Skolas' execution by your hand. Variks will let you in once you get to the Prison. Be wary, this will be the biggest rematch you might have to
face." she reminded.

" Noted, I'm going back, " Tengfei nodded.
