"I have been terrible to her, Theseus"

Newt walked alongside his brother with a slouch in his posture, guilt and misery illustrated upon his face. Theseus, the oldest of the brothers, similarly felt as miserable. The two males only ever took this walk when a rant or offload of troubles was long overdue. No judgement made, no worries, just Scamander and Scamander in the calm and quiet. Of course this was only on the rare occasion when the were not bickering, today being one of those days. Arranged by Newt, they set off on their usual route and blurted their feelings to one another.

"For months I've treat her like a side part and I've been too blind to see it!"

Newt spoke of himself with such hatred, a tear welling in his eye for the 'her' he spoke of. His wife, y/n Scamander. She'd been trying to reach out to him for a while now, and unaware to Newt, had been straying further away herself. Their bed became only occupied by one as the other worked all night, the dinner was eaten alone as the other warmed it up when they found the time and only a few words were shared between them as the days progressed.

"I've been so occupied in making my book that I've let myself get this close to loosing the one person that means the world to me!"

Theseus pointed to a wooden bench on the pavement, signalling for Newt to take a seat in hope of calming him. He'd never seen his younger brother with as much regret in his eyes and figured calming him may ease what he's feeling.

"Remind her who she married. Make her feel your presence and don't ever let that feeling go, because I can guarantee what you're feeling now will triple if you lost her. I know you, I know her. You are at your best when you're together Newt! You've been beside her for years! If you let her slip then-" Theseus spoke softly, with the intent of guiding him.

"I can't! I can't let her slip!" A sense of urgency met Newt's tone, "What do I do Theseus? What if i've pushed her away? She could be too far gone, I may have already lost her. Oh Merlin what if I have?"

Theseus grabbed his little brothers shoulder and apparated to the cosy home of their mother. The air was thick with a lavender scent and the lighting as bright as ever. Typical of the Scamander household.

"Then now is your chance to bring her back. I am pretty sure you left a box of memories between the two of you in the attic, mum is always nagging at you to take them to your place. Take them with you, to her, and show her how much you love her. Do not be too sloppy and certainly don't mention her eyes looking like Salamanders as you always say to me, she might get the wrong impression" He tried his best to help the man ahead of him. Much to his success he saw the growing confidence in Newt, as he took on board everything sad.

Yet, this confidence found itself squashed upon hearing a soft sob from a distant room. Eagerly, the two males creeped toward the door of the room and listened carefully to the conversation happening inside of it.

"I just don't know what to do anymore, Mrs Scamander! I don't know how many more nights i can take without him physically being with me! I... I'm so alone and I miss my husband! I miss his cuddles and his care. I don't even remember the last time he cared! I am forgetting what it felt like to return home to him not being in his case for hours on end and it's breaking me. I can't do it anymore!"

Y/n. The sobs belonged to y/n.

"Oh sweetheart, if i'd have known sooner i'd have given him a taking to myself. Treating you the way he has, i'm surprised he still has you" Mrs Scamander was trying her hardest to comfort the broken girl ahead of her, offering tissues and rubbing circles on her back soothingly.
