You frantically ran about your apartment, (h/c) hair blowing messily in you face, whilst on a mad hunt for your (h/h) scarf. Swearing that you had placed it onto the sofa only five minutes beforehand, you found it the best decision to ask your boyfriend of five months before you lost your sanity completely.
"Newt love?" You made your way over to the entrance of his case and carefully opened the lid as to shout in for him "Have you seen my Hogwarts scarf? It's chilly and I planned on heading out..."
Much to your unawareness, the tall male was actually behind you and situated in a rocking chair rather than in the case in which you believed him to be. I guess you were so hooked up in finding the scarf that you walked past him completely dumbfounded. He ever so slowly made his way over to you and wrapped his arms around you from behind, resting his chin atop your head and startling you a little. "Anywhere interesting?" His melodic voice hummed softly.
"It was on the sofa..." you spoke, recalling any memory of its presence that you possibly could.
"No I mean are you going anywhere interesting?" He chuckled whilst spinning you around to face him.
"Oh! Well no actually, we ran out of milk and I thought I'd make a quick walk to the shops. But it's cold out and I can't find my scarf anywhere"
"In that case, borrow mine until you get home and then the two of us could have a proper look for it. I mean the shops are closing in twenty minutes and mines over here..." He accioed his scarf and wrapped it gently around your neck. It had a strong scent of moss, earth and cinnamon - each being scents that are practically the mark of the man.
"Thank you" you spoke, standing on your tip toes to place a soft kiss to his nose.
"Oh and darling, be careful ok?"
______
You eagerly opened the door, a gust of wind slamming it shut for you once you had stepped inside your warm apartment. Your once straightened hair was now wet and stuck to your forehead in a curly mess and your appearance absolutely drenched. The only thing intact was the pint of milk which had you wondering whether it was worth the journey to get. With that you cautiously, as to not slip on your wet socks, made your way into the kitchen to set the milk away.
"Don't you look a sight for sore eyes?" Newt chuckled as he brought a fresh towel and handed it to you. You gave him a thankful glance before wrapping it around your chilled figure tightly.
"Britain being Britain decided it a good idea to rain just as I made my way home" You sighed, casting a spell to change your soaked clothes into new and dry ones.
"Well, I've found something of yours that'll make future rainfall more bearable" he spoke in a mocking tone, making you giggle slightly.
He gently took your hand in his own and lead you to the entrance of his case. Allowing you to step in first, he gave himself a few seconds to analyse your previously drenched self causing a smile to play at his lips... wow you're adorable. He slowly followed behind you and down the creaky steps, standing beside you once reaching the bottom of the never ending world.
"Look Through there..." he gestured, his face lit.
On command you shifted your face into the pointed out direction. Who'd have thought doing so would end up melting your heart at the sight before you? Pickett snuggled comfortably into your scarf with your old quidditch uniform and various books from your days at Hogwarts. If you'd have known any better you'd have sworn he was Hogwarts addicted.
"Newt! Oh look at him!" You cooed "I wondered where all of this went..."
He let out a quiet laugh, not wanting to wake the creature. "He's been like it for hours"
"Newt! Newt!" You squealed, jumping and grabbing his shoulders. "Can we sort him? He just wants to be part of what we are and oh... OH.... we can make a little sorting hat and give him his own scarf and rob-"
You were interrupted by Newt's kiss to your lips. He couldn't help himself. He loved when you got all excited and bouncy, as an understatement. "I love you, y/n" he spoke, giggling at your hyper state.
"Cannn wwe?" You whined, in the very voice that you knew drove him crazy.
"How could I say no when you're this adorable?" He replied, internally cooing at your now blushing cheeks. "Pickett is lucky to have someone who cares that much for him"
With that, you paced up the stairs to your shared bedroom. You grabbed your wand, a chair and some old cardigans. Using your wand, you carefully cut out shapes from the various materials. Some blue, some yellow, some maroon and some green. This was for the scarf, obviously. Yet you'd no idea which house Pickett would be in and therefore which scarf to make. This left you with no choice but to make them all! Any unused scarf could be given to the rest of the Bowtruckles, you thought as you began stitching them up.
Hours has passed and you'd found yourself making scarf after scarf. Some were tiny and some were huge. One for every creature of every kind. Yes, originally you were going to be making them for the one creature, but where would the equality be in that? It was now 3am, little to your knowledge, and you were still fixated in your work.
"y/n love, it's late. You need to get some rest..."
"I will soon. I just need to get these scarves done... I want to make them look amazing!"
"They'll look as amazing as they do now if you continue them in the morning, okay?" He spoke softly, yawning in the process.
"You're tired Newt, maybe you're the one who needs the rest" You smiled up at him while you hunched over your desk.
"Okay... you give me no choice" Much to your surprise, he scooped his arms around you and lifted you from the chair and into his arms. You protested yet it proved to be no challenge to the male who merely grinned at you as you wriggled.
He carried you to your shared bedroom, lowering you carefully onto the bed. With a flick of his wand you were changed into the cosiest of your pyjama's which brought you a yawn of your own. He lifted your feet, repositioning them under the soft bedding you were previously laying on and pulled the sheets over your warm body.
"Thank you for looking after me love, I don't deserve you" You whispered after he planted a gentle kiss onto your soft lips.
"Sleep well darling" He spoke, before snuggling beside you and closing his eyes.
Once his eyes had reopened at precisely 7:00am, he'd instantly felt your lack of presence. He Instinctively leaped up, wondering where you could be.
"y/n?" He shouted, knowing you'd reply from somewhere.
"Through here love!"
He walked toward the source of your shout, stunned by the sight ahead of him. You, surrounded by a room full of scarves all of different colour and size. You took a few light steps toward him and wrapped your arm around his waist.
"What do you think? One for each creature to be sorted into their own house!"
"Oh, y/n... this is one of the endless amounts of reasons why I love you! They're all going to be thrilled!" He lifted you up and spun you in a hug, surprised at how he found a woman who shares a love for creatures as he does.
"Come on!" You take his hand in your own and pull him toward the case entrance "We have some creatures to sort!"
With that, the two of you hop into his case and accio each scarf toward you upon sorting each and every creature. You happily smile in the surrounding of your family and home. With the man you adore and the creatures you love, each newly sorted and content.
