CHAPTER ZERO - PROLOGUE
Tapping my foot to the beat of the song that was currently on the radio, I bob my head and tap out the drum part on my desk with my pencil as I do my algebra homework. Honestly I don't see the point in learning math if It's not going to be handy later on in life. I mean an accountant needs tons of math, maybe a cashier, but even then the computer does all the math for you and "find x" isn't gonna help anyone either, and then theirs obviously a math teacher, but not for the job I want. I wanted to work in the hospital baby nursery or even a pack nursery. Yes you heard right, pack nursery. I am currently going to college to become a nurse and am almost done with everything I need to take the exam. Why Algebra specifically is beyond me...basic math I get it.
You see I'm no normal human, I'm half human and half wolf, werewolf. My family and I belong to the biggest, strongest, and fiercest pack in North America, The Royal Blood Wolf Pack. We have thousands of members and are the biggest pack by far, well obviously the Kings pack is the largest in the world, but we come ins second for sure. We have an Alpha and a Luna who are soon going to pass down their roles to their first son, Adam and his mate.
As my music blasts and I concentrate on getting all my school work done I hear a knock on my door, heightened werewolf senses and all.
"Who is it?" I yell not bothering to look up, scribbling numbers and symbols on my sheet of paper. The door to my bedroom swings open loudly and my music is shut off.
"Zola! How many times do I have to tell you to turn your music down?" my mom asks with an exasperated sigh. "And open your curtains, It's always dark in here." she adds gesturing to my always closed curtains. I look up at my mom and roll my eyes.
"Mom I like my curtains closed you know that, and you know I like my music loud." I tell her turning back to my calculus book.
"Well it's bad for you." she says matter-o-factly. "You might as well be at a club, dark and loud." she mutters under her breath which I hear.
"Mom you know I can hear you right? I'm a wolf, like you." I yell as she leaves my room.
"Yeah, Yeah, whatever smart-ass!" she yells back at me most likely doing those "whatever" hand gestures she always does, thing is I can't see it so whats the point?
**
As soon as I shove the last text book in my overly overstuffed backpack, with my heightened senses I head our front door crash open and a bubbly cheery voice yell, "Zoooooolaaaaaaa!" That people is my overly obnoxious best friend, Cherry. No that isn't her real name, her real name is Cherish, but I call her Cherry because of her natural bright red hair. In a panic I dump all of my text books from my backpack back onto the bed and open a random one and pretend to study, pencil in hand just as Cherry walks into my room.
"Hey girl, what's up?" she asks cheerily bouncing in and plopping forcefully onto my bed. She squints at me as it is dark. Cherry gets up and opens my curtains making me squint from the sudden light.
"You know doing homework" I tell her as casually as I could. She looks at the text book that is open on my bed.
"I never knew you took mechanics" she said frowning.
"Oh really? Maybe you just weren't paying attention in class then. The teacher specifically said...wait what? I'm not in mechanics." I said frowning in confusion.
"Yeah I know, I was just testing you. I know your pretending to do your homework, I felt you panicking the second I stepped into your house." she said smirking. I groan in defeat wondering what she was going to drag me into today. Last time we ended up in a cockroach infested motel room in Paris, yeah don't ask. I still shudder at the thought remembering having a few of the roaches in my pants and a few on my face.
