CHAPTER THREE - SURPRISE, OR NOT?
It has been a few days now and the painting of the little girl from my dream lay in my closet painted but untouched. I was still mustering up the courage to give it to him. I knew that once he knew, that everything would change...for the better...or for the worst. I needed to tell him. He had the right to know, whether he rejects the baby or not. Whether he kicks me out or not.
"C'mon Zola! You have to do it!" I scolded myself. "Today. You have to do it today!" I continued to scold myself in the mirror. I had the painting wrapped and a small note written, all I had to do was somehow get it to the Alphas office and leave without being noticed, or have someone else prop it by his office door. It was meant for Adams eyes only.
The package had a "Alpha Adam Bishop Only" message written on it as well as "Confidential and Important" written on the brown paper. I didn't need anyone else seeing the painting and trying to figure out why there was a painting of a little girl on it.
I was super nervous about going to the pack house where the Alpha and Alpha Female lived as well as their son, two daughters, little boy and soon to be daughter in law lived. I wasn't sure what would happen when he found out, after all he was getting married this week.
That reminds me! My birthday was tomorrow! I had invited a few close friends and cousins over for a small party my house for a movie night and all you can eat pizza, cake and ice-cream. At the thought of food my stomach began to rumble. Not now, I did not have time to eat at the moment. I rubbed my stomach and sighed. I now noticed the tiniest little bump forming, how had I never noticed before?
"Oh no, not now baby. Mamma needs to get this package to your daddy." I talked to my stomach. No one was home as my parent decided to go out on a date for the night leaving me home alone till around midnight.
Making my way downstairs I grab two slice of cold leftover pizza and heat if up for about twenty seconds and scarf one down in a few bites. Grabbing the package I make my way toward the front door and start the ten minute walk towards the pack house eating the second slice of pizza.
It was dark outside and the moon cast shadows over the trees making shapes and figures on the sidewalk. Some might of been freaked as they looked like actual live people, but I had gotten used to it over the years.
All too soon the pack house comes into view and my nerves are out of control. I feel like I was about to throw up the pizza I had just eaten. Taking a few calming breaths I scold myself and tell myself that this absolutely had to be done, that It couldn't be put off till later. "Zola calm down just give the package to some kid and tell him to take it to the Alpha, no big deal." I told my self trying to calm down.
Walking into the pack house it is buzzing with activity everyone's bustling around preparing decoration for the upcoming wedding. The pack house was huge and it still amazed me at how beautiful it was.
A few kids around the age of 7 were running in my direction laughing hysterically and tripping over one another as another little boy maybe a year younger is running after them. I could see the frustration written all over his face. I knew that look as I used to be just like him. The older kids made him be it for whatever game it was and he couldn't catch them.
"Nah nah! You can't catch us!" one of the girls yelled her giggles sounding in the distance followed by raspberries from a few of the other girls.
The group of kids that were laughing and running got further away as the little boy stopped running his eyes shining with unshed tears. He started to turn around to leave and I felt bad for him, I knew how he felt.
"Hey!" I shouted to the little boy. The boy looked around confused before his eyes settle on me and I motioned for him to come over putting the painting under my arm and crouching down to his level. As the little boy approached me I smiled at him softly.
