CHAPTER FIVE - FLASH.
The party was soon over, and I was absolutely grateful for that, as I couldn't fake another smile not even if I wanted to. I felt so empty and broken that all I wanted to do was curl up in a ball and die already, but I knew I couldn't, for my baby. I needed to stay strong and fight, I couldn't let my baby down.
Slowly picking up plate after plate and cup after cup, I had finally finished cleaning up the house from the party. I had sent my family out of the house with a bright smile telling them not to worry and that I would clean the house myself as they went through all the trouble of arranging the party.
My mom didn't look convinced but let it go and left.
I needed the therapeutic cleaning session. It helped me process my jumbled up thoughts and feelings.
After putting away the left over food in the fridge and putting all my unopened gifts into my room I grabbed a tub of vanilla ice-cream and a spoon and went up to my room.
Plopping onto my bed I let out a shaky sigh and opened the tub of ice-cream. Spooning out a bit of the cream I bring the spoon to my mouth and suck on the cold goodness. My mind was racing with thoughts and I could barely keep up with myself, I felt like I was about to cry any second.
Placing the tub on my bedside table I sit on the floor and start to open the presents one by one.
Clothing, jewelry, makeup, money, perfume and gift cards. I left four gifts that my brothers, mom and dad gave me for last. I contemplated whether I should open Luke's gift at all as I was still mad at him.
Grabbing Kash's light blue gift bag I took out the tissue paper and took out a small box that looked like it could contain a necklace. I slowly opened it to find a tiny envelope the size of a business card with my name on it.
Picking up the tiny envelope I flip open the flap and take the item out, which was a Visa gift card of two hundred dollars. Kash was always the one who spoiled me the most, not even mom or dad spoiled us as much as Kash did. Then picking up dad's gift which was just an envelope, my name was scribbled messily in black ink.
Opening the envelope is a birthday card. I read the writing that my dad had written and my eyes started to tear up. Along with the card he put in two hundred dollars to spend on my baby.
Yes, my dad found out the last one in the family and he wasn't very happy, but he accepted it and said he would help anyway he could.
Deciding to open mom's gift next I took a breath and put my hand in the gift bag and took out a box that was carefully and neatly wrapped. Tearing off the wrapping and flipping the box over, it was a iPod. My mom knows how much I love music and that I only owned an MP3. Along with the iPod came an envelope with a gift card for the baby.
Smiling to myself I patted my stomach lightly. "Well your grandparents are going to spoil you rotten so be prepared little one." I chuckled to myself. My parents were eagerly awaiting their first grandchild and they were literally and probably more excited than I was.
There was still one more gift and I was having an internal battle with myself as to whether I should open Luke's gift or not. I knew that I may have overreacted just a tad bit earlier but I was still upset. Either way I picked up his gift and put it in my lap.
"Well here goes..." I murmured to myself.
I took out the tissue paper and put my hand in the bag and pulled out a......Collar?
A freaking dog collar!
"I am going to murder him!" If he thought that was a funny or even remotely even close to a gift, he was clearly delusional.
