Chapter Four - The History of Magic

      I eat my breakfast while reading my book and it's strangely quiet. I look up to see that no one else is in the cafeteria but they are outside talking and laughing before classes while I'm in here, alone. I take another look around and notice a girl, not the one from the hall but I different one. She was standing in the doorway reading a book. I squint and see its the same book I have, "The Night Circus". I decide she will be my first- no second friend (I guess I'm Rebecca's friend by force so) I go up to her and say hello she responds with hi and we start talking. At first, she seems hesitant but then when she sees we have the same book she lights up and starts going on about how it's her favorite book and this is the 5th time she has read it. We talked until the bell rang which meant it was time for class. My first was history so I went on my way and found the classroom.

      I entered the classroom and took a seat in the back corner. The teacher took roll call and then handed us each a paper. The title was "The History of Magic" and she started reading the paper to us. "The History of Magic, Long ago a young girl discovered a plant which she called the Diamond Rose. She called it that because it resembled a rose but it also looked like a diamond. She took the flower home and examined it but when night fell the flower glowed and lifted itself up into the air. The flower exploded into thousands of little diamonds all over the girl's floor. She picked them all up and put them in a box that had the words "Se lo trovi, sei stato benedetto con un regalo" which means "If you find this you have been blessed with a gift" when translated to English. She sent the box off for someone else to find and whoever found it discovered the magic in the diamonds and spread it to people. But many people were killed for being different so we are the last of the magical beings on this planet so we must protect ourselves and each other."

      Then the teacher told us this before we left "Now children class is almost over and I want you to remember when you go out into the world you must hide your powers or you will be tracked down and killed. I don't mean to scare you but its true". The bell rings just as she finishes talking and everyone in class gets up and heads to there next class. I think over the story and wonder why the girl just gave them away. My next class was "Controlling Powers" so I found the class and went inside. I was gonna get the seat in the back corner again but some guy already got it so I just got the seat next to him. We were the only ones here so i was going to talk to hom but the bell rang and people swarmed in trying to not be late for class. The teacher did roll call and class began.
