Days went by and the stranger was still with them. He didn't seem like a stranger anymore though and his name was Jaycob. His leg had been healing nicely and every night he would tell Adam stories about how he helped in the war- but never gave to much detail.
"Lights out Adam." Yale said as he entered the room. Adam looked at him with big eyes, Yale had walked in just as Jaycob was finishing his story. His uncle chuckled. "Fine, five more miuntes."

The next morning, Adam walked towards his school, kicking rocks along the way. He entered the classroom just as his name was called. He sat down at his desk, setting his backpack down next to him. "Present."
Ms. Blevins smiled. "Glad you could join us on time, Adam."
Adam gave a faint smile in return. He really didn't speak much in class unless he was called on. The day went by the same as any other. The bell rang and Adam stood up gathering his books. He walked out of the third grade class room, dragging his bag along.
He entered his home and noticed that his uncle wasn't there. He was probably still at work. He sat on the counter and began to do his homework.

It had gotten a bit later and Yale still wasn't at home. Jaycob was still there, though. He told Adam not to worry and gave him a small smile, but he looked a bit worried himself.
Jaycob tucked Adam into bed and told him a story. He then stood up and turned off the lamp on his way out.
Adam soon drifted off to sleep as soon as his head touched the pillow.

"Hello?" Adam called. When he had gotten up, no one was at home. He looked out the window and everything was in ruins. He quickly closed the curtains and hurried over to his room, his heart pounding against his chest.
Suddenly everything had gone black and Adam woke with a jolt. He got up and made his way to the living room. He felt a bit relieved when he saw his uncle and Jaycob there.
He looked over at the clock. 7:20 A.M. He should have been up an hour ago getting ready for school. Why had no one woke. him up?
Adam quickly got dressed in whatever he could find and grabbed his backpack heading towards the living room. Yale looked over and saw him dressed for school.
"There's no school today, Adam. They've blocked off the streets."
Adam frowned. "How come?"
"It's not something ye should worry about right now." Jaycob smiled.
Jaycob and Yale sat in front of the t.v. in order to get more updates on the war. Adam slightly frowned. He didn't know what was going on exactly but something was definitely up.
