Three days went by and the road was still closed.  Adam sat on the living room floor, playing with his toy plane, while Yale and Jaycob sat in front of the t.v., waiting for more updates about what was going on.

A lady in a white suit and a blonde bob stood in the center of the screen.  She announced that people would be able to go out from three in the afternoon to eight at night.   They would only be able to go get supplies that they needed and would not be able to leave home after that.  No one knew how long they would have to remain inside after that.

Yale stood up and turned off the t.v.  "Looks like we're going out."  He said.

Jaycob watched Adam play outside as they waited for Yale to come outside of the store.  Adam continued to kick at the pile of leaves but soon grew bored of it.  He sat down and tugged at the buttons on his jacket.  He heard a bell, letting him know that someone had left or entered the store.  Adam stood up to see his uncle carrying grocery bags.  Jaycob helped Yale by taking some of the bags.  Adam carried one as well.

As Adam walked with his bag, he was also snacking on some crackers that his uncle had gotten him.  Once they had arrived at the house, they began to put everything away.  Adam went to go sit outside the porch.   It still wasn't eight, so it was still fine if he played outside.

It began to grow darker and ther cicada's cries grew louder.  Adam stood up and went inside, closing the door behind him.    Everything was silent except for the ticking of the clock.  He walked passed Yale's room and something caught his attention.  He stood at the doorway and stared at two suit cases.  One of them lay on the floor opened and half packed.  Why was this there?   He heard footsteps approach and saw his uncle coming his way.

"Oh good you're inside."  His uncle sounded relieved.  He then got down on one knee to get at eye level with his nephew.  "Adam...things have gotten a bit more complicated, and if we don't move soon things are going to get a lot worse for us."

Adam frowned but nodded in reply.   He didn't want to leave but he trusted his uncle.

Adam wrapped his hands around his uncle's neck as he rode along his back.  They had to avoid being caught and so far they had gotten by two sets of soldiers.  Right now things were really strict and they weren't letting anyone out of the city limits.

They constantly had to hide because of the patrols, but they eventually made it to the end of the city.  Yale set Adam down and told him to wait with Jaycob.

A few minutes later he returned and they finally made it to the other side.  Adam held Yale's hand as they took their first step into Corden City.
