Chapter 4: Truth Untold

His voice keeps on echoing in my ears, piercing my heart till it bleeds.

"Are you sure you want to cut your hair that short? Your hair is so lovely and it's a waste." The barber asked Jin as he sits down and looks at himself in the mirror.

 

"Yes, I am sure about it," Jin said monotonously as he seriously stares at his reflection. Deep inside his mind, he was talking to that old Jin that will say goodbye soon. Since child, he already wore an eyeglass and he always has long hair which was the reason why his classmates teased him, calling him nerdy and a geek, but he didn't change his image because there was a certain someone that told him he looks great the way he is. For years he holds on to that words and so he never tried to change how he looks even there are people who look down on him. As long as that guy was always at his side and accepting how he looks like he will just cover his ears and eyes from what other people see and say. He lives a life just like that but then the time that he realized he can't live his life like he used to forever finally arrived.

The barber gives him a deep sigh and then he started to comb his hair but then he hesitated on cutting it. He asked again if Jin was serious about his decision and he just nods down like an obedient puppy. As Jin heard the first snip of the scissor that cut the first strands of his hair, all memories flashed on his mind. His voice on his ear, his face on his eyes and that last confession he did on his mind. Without noticing it, tears start to fall from his eyes as the barber continued to cut his hair. Long years of loving someone just ended like that.

Jin went back home with his new hair and everyone inside his own house was so shocked about his extravagant transformation. His 3 big sisters talked about it all the time wondering what happened to their one and an only little brother that he decided to change his image for his last year in high school. They are even more surprised when their mother told them that Jin asked her to order for contact lenses since he didn't want to wear glasses anymore. They even made an international call to their father who was working abroad to tell what is happening to Jin coz it was really a shocker to them.

As Jin steps inside the classroom on the first day of school, everyone's eyes fastened on him and it was obvious that they were all shocked and surprised with what their eyes perceived. Even Jungkook and Namjoon, who is his best friends, cannot believe that their nerdy friend suddenly became a stunning worldwide handsome. He was not used to with the attention but for some reason, he didn't hate it. Everyone's view towards him changes and now they are not looking down on him anymore but they are admiring him instead.
The next day Jin was assigned to be the next class president of their class. Everyone agreed because of his great accomplishment when they were the second year. He is the one who did all the planning on last year's festival and they won as the best class's booth because of his knowledgeable and skillful ideas. He, together with Henry who is his secretary, both attended the meeting that afternoon where other class presidents were to come.

Like when he entered their classroom before, everyone was also staring at him when he and Henry entered the meeting room. The faces are just the same, it seems like other class also retained the same class presidents as what they have before to lessen the hassle of choosing a new one. Henry and Jin sit down at the same time when another group of boys entered the classroom and it was Yoongi together with Minho, who was last year's Class 2-C president.

Jin and Yoongi's eye met each other but Jin immediately averts it away from him. Yoongi was about to sit down on the vacant chair in front of him but then Minho grabbed him to his collar and dragged him towards Jin's seats. Actually, Henry and Minho are best friends and they are separated for the first time this year. "So you are someone else secretary this year," Minho said as he stared at Jin. "You look different. Did you have heartbreak so you cut your hair?" he asked as he sits down beside Henry.
