"I thought I'd never see the light of day, but then he took me by my hand and enabled me to stand
But he looked beyond my faults, church, Cause he knew that I needed his help. I want to thank to the Lord for healing me and trying me once again. -Ricky Dillard
"Mara, wake up baby" I was wide awake, I just didn't want to open my eyes, because I was afraid in what state my aunt was in now...
"Mara, your friend is here, we're going to church, " she stated happily. I opened my eyes and I froze, she looked absolutely stunning. She was wearing one of the dresses my mother bought her, her hair was braided and tied with a white scarf and tears came running out of my eyes, because she looked beyond beautiful.
She looked just like my mother, that pained me a bit in a good way, strange huh?
"He is waiting for me, do you want to come too?" that pained me eve more not in a good way, I shook my head. Her smile melted, that cracked my heart a bit, for the first time in a long that she wore clothes, wasn't being crazy or under her own disgusting vomit, but was being a her own beautiful happy self, I had to ruin that moment again
"Another time" I lied, in a weak attempt to revive her good mood, though guilt was forming inside of me as her face lit up and a great smile came across her face.
"Baby, The Demons didn't come tonight and the lord did that for me, He can do it for you too!" She said pinking away some tears ,I was resisting the urge not to slam my head against my headboard.
"I got to go, baby, " she said smiling. I followed her and I saw Samuel holding my parents' wedding picture, he promptly placed it back on the table what caused him to drop it. I was ready to fire him with profanities.
"Leave it, I'll take care of it, " I said between a sigh. He mumbled a little sorry, that made him pretty cute.
"Your parents look beautiful" My aunt started laughing wickedly. I gave her a pointed look and she mockingly slapped her head and placed her hand on her mouth. I took a deep breath trying to calm down.
"How do yo-"....... He shrugged slightly, and examined the picture again.
"You look exactly like your mother, but you have your dad's, eyes and the same left dimple just under your cheeks" he said with a half smile, he looked pretty emberassed after he said that, I smiled back at him and I realized that he really didn't try to get in my pants, but now I want to know what he really wants?
"We have to go to church" My aunt said and I sensed some agitation and deep jealousy in her face and intonation, I narrowed my eyes to them, Samuel must've noticed my suspicion, because he angrily dragged me into the kitchen.
"What are you guys doing"I half-whispered as a disapproving look came across my face. He raised one finger.
"Naomi, please stop thinking that I have something sick with your auntie" I looked away, he chuckles.
"Come on, I'm not like that" I glared at him ,of course he wasn't nobody could be like that!
"I don't know you and why should I trust my auntie with you" I spat at him.
"Your aunt as in not your daughter is a grown woman, A grown woman as in she can make her own decisions." What did he just say, I pushed him away and was having a real hard time not to beat him up severly.
"Listen up kid, My aunt is an childish, emotional wreck.. she can't take care of herself and I'm the one that makes sure she won't fall a sleep in the bath tub, that she eats right and I'm the one that makes sure that she survives the other day...What gives you the audacity to say that she can make her own decision, because I'm not her mother..... I'm her mother, I took care of her in her worst, I took care of her, I took care of her"
