It was Sunday. Dylan went to Mass with her mom and her little sister just as they always do every Sunday. He is God fearing and in still the religiousness of his mother. The word of the priest still kept playing on repeat on his mind.
“The will to live, will always outweigh the ability to die.” I guess it stuck on him like glue. He sometimes think of it as he is melodramatic with the case of being not good enough that people commit suicide, as he himself once thought of killing himself. It was when Ali left him and Henry is not talking to him. He just felt lonely. But instead he channel his depression to studying a achieved something.
“DYLAN!!!” a shout snapped him from his deep thought while walking the sidewalks heading to the Marriot Hotel.
“George?” Dylan replied. His mom and sister looked at the thin figure emerging from the sea of people.
“Good Morning Mrs. Cole. I am George, I go to the same University as Dylan.” George put his hand at the back of his head. And smile his best to give off a first good impression.
“Oh, it’s nice to meet you. We are going to Marriot’s to have Sunday brunch. Would you like to come along? And it’s just Emily or Ms. Lopez.” Emily said in a plain voice. She was quite looking at George from head to foot.
“I would be honored Emily… but I need to get to my job. I just came here to give Dylan his keys back. He dropped it last time.” George intimidated by the aura given by Emily. He felt his tattoos might scare her off, with his pierced ears and dark eyebags. She wears a White Sunday lacey dress and her black Rayban’s. He handed the keys to Dylan.
“Great. I have been looking for this since last week. Wait, you have a job?” Dylan takes the keys from George and gives a thank you nod.
“It’s a part time job. I am in a band called Jobless.” George said in a small voice.
“Cool. Can you play on my 13th birthday? I am Sam by the way.” The little did her angel like first impressions.
“Maybe. But I need to go, I am late as it is. Nice bumping in to all of you.” George took off glancing at his vibrating phone then pat Sam on the head. Dylan thought, if only he knew Sam didn’t like messing with her hair or being touched on the head. But Sam just shrugged it off. Then he crossed the street.
“See you at school and the dorms!” Dylan shouted. George looked back at wave.
“He seems nice. I hope he wouldn’t bring you problems in the future.” Emily looks at her son with concern, her voice is unsure.
“Yes, he may look like a troublemaker but he is actually a good guy.” Dylan reassuring his mom.
