It is Saturday, a nice time to settle down in the dorms. The 45-minute drive from their house to the university drained energy from himself. He never took the driver’s education classes. He took a cab and his stuff at the back. Two moving guys helped him settled in his room, 411-C. It is located on the 4th floor of the old stoned dormitory, 4th door on the right. He never got his hopes up because disappointment always gets the better of you. He entered the room and the moving guys do their work. There was no elevator so he had to help the movers carry the bags to get the job faster and it wouldn’t be much of a hassle to the movers. He was asked if he wanted a room with a double deck, two single beds, or a huge double bed that can be upgraded to a king size bed provided it will cost him extra but he has to share the bed with his roommate. But when luck splatters, he got a whisk of it. The room was huge and there were single beds, there was a built in bathroom and built in closet. His bags were already in the room and the movers cleaned the room from an abandoned mess to a room as clean as hotels rooms. He hates the cold floor so he had a carpet put on his side of the room. A coffee table and a window above it separate the two beds. He chooses the left side as it is nearer to the bathroom but the right side is much closer to the door and the closet. After the movers left and paid them, he lied down on the soft rough sheets he always liked. He never liked the smooth ones though they were much cooler but he can’t sleep with smooth sheets as it feels foreign to him and made him uneasy. His comforter is handmade wool made in Ireland and the sheets were made in the Philippines. He brought two pillows though he can sleep with just one. The room was expensive he thought but worth it, he opted to stay in the dorms though it’s price is the same as renting an apartment in the upper east side and he will be sharing it with a roommate. So far, that room is one of the most expensive rooms in the dorm. He has a college fund after all. He wonder whom his roommate be, it is impossible to be George because he will be an incoming 2nd year this semester therefore his room would be on the third floor. There is a hierarchy in this dorm, 1st years will be staying on the 4th floors, 2nd years on the 3rd floor, 3rd years on the 2nd floors and the 4th years would be on the 1st floor. Climbing to the 4th floor tires him enough, so if you are on a lower floor you can’t exhaust as much as those who resides at a higher floor. He envied the 4th years, their rooms are bigger and they have privileges like those that they have free laundry and housekeeping. He realized that they deserve it, after battling those years in college. He felt tired, took a quick shower and doze off.
A knock on the door woke him from his dream of being in their house and learning how to cook without fire which he realized after getting his sanity back that is almost impossible. He reached for the door and when he opened, topless and only wearing his boxers a shivering George came into his field of vision.
“Hey Dylan, would you mind if I come in?” George asked with pleading voice.
“Sure.” Dylan replied gesturing has hands to let the almost George come in. He sat on the Dylan’s bed and looked wet.
“Get out of my bed, you’ll going to get it wet.” Dylan looked at George standing up quickly. “Would you mind telling me why are you naked? This isn’t Playboy mansion you know.” Dylan added.
