Soul's POV

Even though I know she doesn't love me, last night was wonderful. Even if we both had a nightmare, we comforted each other. And she kissed my chest, even if it was out of sorrow, still kissed me. Maka, I wish I could tell you, but I don't want risk our friendship and our resonance. Speaking of Maka, she wasn't in bed when I got up. But I smelled the bacon in the air and figured she was making breakfast.

I got out of bed and got in the shower. I got out, dried myself, put on my balck jacket, jeans, and headband with my orange shirt, and put my hair gel in my hair. Then I put on my cologne and walked out of the bathroom.

I saw Maka was still cooking so I walked up to her and put my arms around her waist. "Good morning, Maka..." I whispered in her ear, hoping she didn't get a clue that I love her. "Good morning, Soul. And what are doing?" she asked startled. "Well, you did have a bad dream last night." I smirked. "I'm fine now, b-but thanks." she stuttered. Damn it, Soul! She got a clue! Well, play it off like you don't. Yeah, that would be cool. "What's the matter, Maka?" I asked, as if I hadn't had a clue. "Oh, I'm just c-cold." she stuttered again. I felt her arms. She really was cold. Maybe she didn't have a clue.

She put pancakes, boiled eggs, and bacon on two plates and put them on the table. "My favourite! Thanks, Maka." I said. "N-no problem." she once again, stuttered. "Here." I said while taking off my jacket and putting it on her. "Ahh. Thank you, Soul." She said gratefully while staring into my eyes with her beautiful emerald ones. I grinned my toothy grin and sat down across from her. I quickly ate me delicious breakfast and sat down on the couch. "Remember, we are meeting Black*Star and Tsubaki today for coffee in 3 hours." She reminded me. She began to do dishes and I walked up to her. "Yeah, I know. I can do the dishes today. Go sit down." I said with a smile.

Maka's POV

Therr is seriously something wrong with Soul. He never offers to do extra work. I was suspicious so I just stood there. "I don't think you understood, Maka. Sit down." He ordered. I slowly backed away and sat down. "Thanks?" I said confused. "I have a surprise for you today, Maka." He said. Oh wait, what was today? Oh my Death. It's my birthday. I totally forgot,  that's the whole reason we are meeting Black*Star and Tsubaki today. I'm such an idiot.

After Soul was done he sat next to me and handed me a small box wrapped in some red wrapping paper and a silver bow on top. "Thank you, Soul." I said kindly. "Happy birthday, Maka." He said with a grin. I slowly began to unwrap the small box and opened the lid. It was a silver necklace with a ruby in the center. It reminded me of Soul's eyes. "Thanks, Soul. I love it!" I said while giving him a bear hug. I practically knocked him off the couch. He chuckled and said, "Well, I have another gift for ypu but you aren't getting it 'till tonight." He smirked. I pouted then laughed. I was now 17, and Soul was still a year older. "Oh, by the way, we are going to that dumb dance tonight. All DWMA students are required to." He said. "Alright." I said. I can't wait. Today is gonna be so fun!
