nailah and ben walk down brompton street hand in hand. they haven't had any alone time in weeks so they are spending as much time as they can.
nailah suddenly stops and looks in the window to look at some of jewellery on display, more precisely, the rings.
'you've been thinking about us getting engaged?' asks ben as she suddenly moves away from the glass.
'oh no well yes, it's been a thought in the back of my mind but it's just those rings are really pretty.'
'then let's go and have a look!'
'no no, there's no point ben.'
'come on, there's no harm in looking is there?' he says with a smile before taking her hand and dragging her into harrods, one of the most famous department stores in london. they walk through the shoppers and tourists as they head for the escalators to go upstairs. she walks over to tiffany's with ben following close behind before looking at all the rings.
'you know, ever since i was a little girl, if i ever got married i always said it would have to be a tiffany's ring. i used to always watch breakfast at tiffany's when i was younger and for my 18th birthday i got an audrey hepburn inspired party.' says nailah as she looks through the glass.
'but i always thought, am i ever going to meet the one? is he out there? but i guess now, i finally found him.' she says making ben smile.
'hello, can i help you with anything?' asks the employee behind the counter.
'oh no thank you, we're just looking.'
ben looks through the glass cabinets but he is still feeling unsettled. he loves nailah more than anything but he doesn't know if he's ready for marriage quite yet. it's a big commit and he's still young and wants some sense of freedom.
'ben, are you okay?'
'huh? oh yeah, i'm fine.' he says faking a smile.
'no you're not, what's wrong?'
'well, i don't want to ruin this for you but i'm not personally ready to get engaged,' he says sighing, 'i love you, i truly do baby but i feel like it's quite a big commit to us. i mean we still don't officially live with each other yet.'
ben and nailah have been looking at houses to buy. they are trying to find something in between the central and the south east, so it's easy for both of them. nailah is only currently renting her current place whereas ben bought it. this time they are looking for a house for a garden as they are thinking of this becoming a family home in the future.
'but i didn't want to say anything as you looked so happy when i brought the conversation up and then you told me about the story with you and breakfast at tiffany's. i didn't want to ruin it for you.'
'ben, don't worry about it. if you don't want to get engaged, i'm perfectly okay with that. we've always said we won't make decisions unless the other person is a hundred percent okay with it. i'm not going to force you into doing something you're not ready for.'
