today is the day that nailah and ben finally go on their first date together. they are both currently at home, stressing out about it.nailah is in bedroom, looking through her clothes while tom is sat on her bed watching her.
'i don't know what to wear!' she says grunting in frustration.
'just go with something smart yet casual and comfortable. you're going to a concert, it's not like he's going to see you anyway.'
'i know but if i don't feel good in what i'm wearing, i'll be in a shit mood.' she says before sitting on her bed in defeat.
'come on nai, don't be like this. it's only an outfit.' says tom putting his arm around her as she rests her head on his shoulder.
'it's not only that tom, it's so much more. it's this entire date that's got me stressed out. i'm not used to going on dates, i don't know what to say or what to do.'
tom has known nailah for around seven years now but he has never seen her like this. even though she won't fully admit it, he knows she really likes ben. just when ben's around or his name is mentioned, she automatically smiles.
but tom also knows ben likes her too. both of them are just too blind to see their feelings for each other. tom practically forced ben to ask her out on a date.
'i understand you're nervous which is okay! but don't worry about it, it's ben. he knows and i'm pretty sure he'll be nervous as well. don't think it's a date, just thinks it's you and ben hanging out together but more intimately.'
'i just don't want to ruin things before anything's started.'
'don't think about the whole "date" concept, that's what's stressing out. just be yourself and relax. and don't forget you're seeing lana fucking del rey!' he says and she finally grins.
'see there we go, that's the smile i was looking for! and i have the perfect outfit for you.'
nailah moves her head from his shoulder as he goes into her wardrobe. he picks out a black pencil skirt a black long sleeved t-shirt a red jumper tights and some black knee high boots.
'i can't wait, you're going to have him weak at the knees!'

nailah is sat impatiently in her apartment, sat on her sofa, her legs moving up and down with nerves and excitement.
'he should be here any minute.' she says to herself before taking a deep breath.
ben is actually there, he's stood outside her apartment door. he's just as nervous as nailah. he's been rehearsing in his head just on how's he's going to greet her for the part five minutes.
finally he gets the courage to knock on her, and she answers it a few moments later.
'hi.' she says with a smile plastered on her face.
'w-wow, you look amazing.' says ben nearly lost for words at nailah stood in front of him.
'you don't look too bad yourself.' she replies with a wink before stepping out of her apartment and locking the door.
they walk down the hallway of the apartment into the lift then walk to his car.
the car ride to the venue consists of them talking about random topics to try and ease their nerves. every so often at a red light, ben would just turn his head slightly to admire nailah.
once they've arrived near the o2 academy, he parks his car and they both get out before walking towards the theatre. they walk side by side before nailah takes ben's hand and intertwines their fingers taking him by surprise.
'oh i'm sorry is it too much?' she says quickly moving her hand away.
'no, it just took me slightly by surprise that's all.' he replies with a smile before taking her hand again.

it's about midway through the concert and nailah is having the time of her life. ben isn't the biggest lana del rey fan, he likes some of her songs but he isn't a die hard supporter like nailah. but watching nailah smile and sing along, just seeing her happy in general just makes ben's life that one bit more exciting.
lana has just finished singing shades of cool and is now about to start bel air which makes nailah scream in delight.
'this is my favourite song!' she says excitedly to ben who just watches her with a smile plastered on his face.
he isn't exactly sure when it happened. or even when it started. all he knew for sure was that right here and now, he was falling hard and he could only hope that she was feeling the same way.

once the concert has finished, they walk, hand in hand, outside of the venue. as they are walking down the street, it starts to pour with rain so they start walking a little quicker. eventually the slight rain turns into pouring so ben gets the quick idea and gets into a red phone box to wait until the rain slows down a bit.
'isn't this cosy.' says nailah laughing as she is pushed up against ben in the small space.
'thank god i wore waterproof mascara.'
'you know, when it started to rain a little, i was going to try and do the cliché kiss you under the rain move. but then i thought, you'd probably reject me and call me an idiot for even trying that.' says ben looking down at nailah. nailah looks up at ben, who's hair was once styled to perfection is now curly because of the rain.
'why don't you just kiss me now?' she says and he leans in and pressing his lips against hers. he kissed her and the world fell away. it was slow and soft, comforting in ways that words would never be. his hand rested below her ear, his thumb caressing her cheek as their breaths mingled.
after their kiss, he rests his forehead against hers while she bites her lip to stop herself from grinning.
'nailah jackson, i'm so head over heels in love with you, it's making me lose my god damn mind.'
