Just to let you all know and to apologize ahead of time, this chapter should be really short.
We ran for about fifteen minutes before I stopped and sat down. "Come on Raven we have to keep moving," my dad said as he tried to get me on my feet. Cole pushed him away and sat down next to me. "She just watched her mother die, dad, have some respect. Besides we have to stop and rest, we won't get much farther if we continue now."
"We must go. We're short on time and we have to move the pack when we reach them, that is if they're still there." Our father spoke quickly trying to hide his feelings, but you could hear the worry that laced his voice. "Why do you seem so unaffected? Did you not love my mother ever?" I asked. I thought it was very strange that he didn't seem to care about the death of the mother of his pups.
"I did love your mother and I am upset. But out here we have to make sacrifices to survive," he said while sitting across from me and Cole. "That's all she was to you? A sacrifice? What if Cole had been the one to die?" I asked honestly getting pretty annoyed. Our father remained silent and was staring at the ground.
After a while of awkward silence, my father said that we'd stay here for the night. The three of us later down and quickly layer to exhaustion. I dreamt of my mother's death, it kept playing over and over again. Cole woke me up and curled up next to me because apparently, I was whimpering in my sleep. I quickly realized that it would be a long journey tomorrow and that I should get some sleep.
I'd have to wait and see what tomorrow brings.
