Theo~"License and registration, please." The officer at my window said as he stood back assessing my car and those who where in it.
"Here you go, officer." I said handing him the papers he asked for.
"T, what'd you do?" My little sister Wren asked.
"Not sure, I was going the speed limit, used my turning signals and stopped at everything that told me to stop." I said shrugging my shoulders.
"He didn't do anything, little miss. Here in Middleton, we like to know who's visiting or stopping through." The officer said handing back my papers.
"Oh so T wasn't bad?" She asked with a giggle.
"No, he wasn't bad." He said with a chuckle. "How long you folks staying?" He asked standing with his arms crossed.
"Long enough to get gas, snacks and a bathroom break." I said eyeing the gas station ahead.
"Well Manny's has amazing fresh donuts." He said making my brother laugh from the backseat.
"Thank you, I'll have to try one." I said smiling at him.
"You do that, drive safe and be careful." He said before leaving us.
"Really, Mox. Did you have to laugh with him still standing there?" I asked with a huff as I started the car.
"Man that was just classic. A cop knowing all about where to get the best donuts." Mox said.
"You could have held you laugh for a few minutes more." I said with a sigh.
"Can we get donuts?" Wren asked.
"Here's the deal. One snack, one drink and bathroom. Mox I need you to take Wren in while I get gas. Wait for me in there." I said parking in front of the gas pump.
"Yeah, yeah, it's the same speech ever time. How much longer you think this is going to take? We've been on the road for a week now." Mox asked as he got out of the car and walked around to get Wren.
"I hope it ends soon. I only have a few more viles left to add to the gas before we are on our own." I said getting the vial that was mixed up to help us find our fathers.
"Can Carson make more?" Wren asked.
"I don't know. We only had so much of their blood for the spell to work. He might have enough for a dozen more or so. But I feel like we are close so figures crossed we are." I said dumping the vile in the tank before adding the fuel.
I watched as my siblings walked into the station. Before I counted the vials left. 10. That should be enough I hope. We're halfway a-crossed the county. We started off with 25 viles and with a little more magic here and there I've learned to stretch what we have.
I walked in the station and found my siblings at the donut section. Mox was bagging his and Wren's donuts as she ooh'ed over every donut in the case. I saw a bag of beef jerk and sunflower seeds in her hand. I chuckled to myself as I grabbed some cheddar popcorn and a nice sized glazed donut.
"Drinks and then let's go." I said grabbing a bottle of water.
"When will we eat?" Mox asked.
"Next time we fill up. We just had breakfast. And now you're having donuts and a snack." I said paying for all the stuff.
"My turn to sit up front." Mox sang.
"No fair I just got up here." Wren pouted.
"She gets it until lunch and then it's your turn. You know the rules. You fight and your both in the back until we get to where ever it is we are going." I said making sure Wren was buckled.
Mox grabbed his book and pouted in the back. While Wren started to color. I got behind the wheel and allowed the car to take me in the direction we needed to go.
The spell my friend Carson put on the car allowed me to just sit back and let it take me where we wanted to go. The car never went over the speed limit by more the five miles per hour, it always signaled when changing lanes and seemed to go all easy routes. Carson was a genesis. He taught me a lot about magic and helped me find out how much of a witch I am.
You see I have three dads. I was carried by Jonah who is a werewolf, fathered by Clark who is witch and Max who is a shifter. I am more werewolf then witch but about an equal part shift as I am witch. I can do magic but nothing heavy like Carson. I can shift into just about anything but my wolf likes to push all other animals away and take over.
Mox is shifter and wolf. Jonah carries him and Max fathered him. He was born after Clark rejected our fathers and split.
I met Clark once. He taught me a few things and asked that I think of him as a distant uncle that never comes around. He told me he didn't want kids or mates that he loved to travel and have fun. We're Facebook friends. He's having the time of his life. Sends me money all the time. I blow it on the kids.
Wren, oh my little Wren. She is fairy from her mother, wolf from Jonah and shifter from Max. Gwen carries her and died shortly after she was born. She held her for a long time before she went to sleep and never woke up again.
The night Wren was born our fathers split. Haven't seen them since. I understand losing a mate is hard, hell losing two would be devastating. But abandoning your kids because your sad, hurt angry and mourning. It's just not right.
I was eight when we was dropped off at town hall. We lived there from that day on. I'd work all day cleaning then we would be locked in a room with bunk beds and a bathroom until the next day.
When I was 14 they got us a small fridge and a microwave. Said I earned it. When I was 16 I started getting paid and earned keys to the place. I did my schooling online using one of the computers they had and sent the kids to regular school. They never had what other kids had but they was okay with that.
Now I was 18 they said I was old enough to take care of myself and my sibling so they kicked us out. So here we are I borrowed Carson's car and now we are heading to find our fathers.
We've come so far I don't even know what will happen when we find them. But I need answers and I want to be able to finally tell them to fuck off.
Once that happens we will find a nice town and settle down. Carson will move with us and together we will find our mates.
In this new world so to speak. There is no more humans. Everyone has a little something in their blood so there is no more hiding, secrets or battles so to speak. Nine times out of ten every town has an alpha as there mayor or sheriff. But on the council there is a witch, shifter, fairy, elf, vampire and giant. No species left out.
I worked part time for the police station where we was from and that is how I got my hands on the vials of blood that have our fathers blood samples in them and that's how Carson ale the potion that runs the car.
You see every town takes a sample of our blood and every person carries a species card on them. That way if we are injured or sick we can get the proper medication and not something that could kill us. When you move your supposed to get your vials and files to take to the next town but since our fathers left in the middle of the night they were still in the records department.
"T, I'm sleepy." Wren whined.
"Take a nap we have a while before we stop again." I said looked back at Mox who was also sleeping.
Once the car got to a quarter of a tank I did a little spell Clark taught me and it was full again. As tired as I was I could go to sleep because all the other drivers would freak out. This is one of my many tricks that has kept us going.
