Chapter 2- Taciturn and News

As the months passed, things were starting to go downhill. Jaemin was usually working overnight and either came home after midnight or before noon. Sometimes, he wouldn't come home until the next day or he would be drunk. He would hardly utter a few words to me or get enraged for insignificant things.

He wasn't even his affectionate self anymore. He didn't even smile that charming smile of his which could lit up a dark day. 

I was aware that the company was going through a problem for a while, and being the CEO, he had a lot on his shoulders. So I respected his time and space even though I was so concerned about him.

I heard the door bell ring. It was half past midnight, Jaemin must've arrived.

I quickly ran downstairs to open the door. Jaemin stood there, looking tired and annoyed.

"Why do you take so long to open the damn door, Naru?" He said angrily. That unfamiliar tone frightened me.

"I-I'm sorry," I murmured, not daring to look up at him glaring at me. "I was upstairs, I came as quickly as I could."

He didn't say a word and walked past me. What happened to the Jaemin who would kiss me every time he came from work? I didn't notice that my eyes teared up until I felt a tear roll down my cheek. I sighed as I made my way to Jaemin's and my room.

I glanced at him and he was glaring at me. It scared me so much. I've seen every side of Jaemin, but this was an unknown and unfortunate one.
I decided to leave him alone, so I grabbed my phone and pillow and proceeded to the guest room. This was the first time that I wouldn't be sleeping next to Jaemin in our entire one and a half years of marriage. I realized that I still haven't changed my clothes, but I didn't want to go back to my room to get them. That would obviously piss Jaemin off more.

I set my alarm and tired to sleep. But I couldn't. I began to cry. What happened to my Jaemin? This wasn't the Jaemin I knew. My Jaemin was warm and cheerful. This Jaemin was cold and taciturn. My eyelids were so heavy from all the crying, that I passed out after a while.

I woke up to the loud sound of my alarm ringing. I turned it off and got up, stretching. I walked over to the large mirror in the guest room. My eyes were red and puffy, but I noticed that my clothes were different. I was only wearing my panties and Jaemin's favorite white t-shirt.

When did he change my clothes for me? I thought, smiling.

I went to take a shower, it was a Sunday so it was a day off for me and I expected Jaemin to still be asleep but surprisingly he was no where to be found. Maybe he went out for a jog or he's working out.

I quickly finished my morning routine and went downstairs to make breakfast. I wasn't really feeling too good so I just had some blueberry yogurt.

Suddenly, I felt the urge to throw up. I ran to the nearest bathroom and began to throw up. After a few minutes, I was finally done. Tears were streaming down my face and my throat was aching terribly. I tried to think about what could have caused this. I fall sick rarely and I haven't eaten anything outside yet. I stood up weakly and was about to leave the bathroom when a box of pads caught my attention.

That's when it hit me.

I was supposed to get my period two weeks ago. So there's a high chance that I'm pregnant.

I washed my face before throwing on one of Jaemin's white hoodies. I slipped into my shoes and wore my mask before heading to the pharmacy. I noticed that Jaemin's car wasn't there. I wonder where he went.

In about five minutes, I reached the pharmacy which was right across the hospital.

I went in and purchased the first pregnancy test I saw.

"Expecting, ma'am?" The pharmacist asked. She seemed to be in her early thirties or late twenties.

"Yes, I hope it's true." I said, smiling.

"Good luck. That would be three thousand won." She said. I handed her the money and went to the hospital. I decided to take the test in the hospital so that I could do an ultrasound soon after the results, if it's positive.

This wasn't the first time I've taken a pregnancy test so I was knowledgeable about what to do. After urinating on the test, I waited for a few minutes.

My heart was beating so fast. I really hoped that I'm pregnant. Jaemin would be such an amazing father! I smiled at the thought of Jaemin playing with our kids.

Finally, I looked at the test. There were two red lines, indicating that I am indeed pregnant. I was ecstatic! I immediately went to the receptionist and got an appointment with the obstetrician.

A nurse came up to me and questioned, "Are you Mrs. Na?"

"Yes."

"Okay, please follow me." She said as she let me to an ultrasound room where a doctor was smiling at me.

"Hello, I'm Doctor Kim Soojin. Please take a seat." She said politely.

I took a seat and said, "Hi doctor. I just took a pregnancy test a few minutes ago, it was positive."

She asked me a few questions about my diet and other general things and told me what and what not to do.

"Alright Mrs. Na, let's do an ultrasound and we can determine how far you are." She said.

I nodded as I laid down on the hospital bed. A nurse came in and rubbed the ultrasound gel all over my stomach. Doctor Kim then moved the probe in all directions while scanning the screen carefully.

"Ah! There it is. Can you see that," She said, pointing to a tiny figure on the screen. "that's your baby."

I felt the happy tears stream down my cheeks, blurring my vision. I was going to be a mother! Jaemin and I are going to be parents!

"Doctor, how long am I?" I asked happily.

"Seven and a half weeks. In about four months, we can determine the sex of the baby."

"My baby is healthy right?"

"Of course. Do you consume alcohol?"

"Occasionally."

"Remember not to consume any amount of alcohol, it's minacious for the baby."

"Yes Doctor."

"Have you told your husband?" She questioned.

"Not yet. I'm going to tell him once I get home." I said.

She nodded.

I got back home and immediately called out for Jaemin. "Jaemin! Baby, I have some news for you."

There was no response. I searched the entire house for him but he still wasn't home. I tried calling his phone but he didn't answer. I was getting really worried. I then called his office.

"Hello, this is Park Jisoo from Na Enterprise Holdings, how may I help you?" Jisoo, the receptionist answered.

"Hi Jisoo, this is Mrs. Na. I wanted to know if Jaemin is currently at his office."

"Yes, ma'am. He arrived at around eight in the morning." She said.

"Alright, thank you." I said politely, and she hung up.

Why did he go to office on a Sunday morning? I hope everything is fine at the company.

I decided that I would go surprise him there. I quickly grabbed my car keys and drove off to his office.
