But before I could ask them anything, someone was knocking on my front door. I gave Michael and Caleb a look and they backed up further down the hallway. I walked to the door, picking up my walkman I had lost during the tussle and tossed that (and the headphones that had disconnected but still hung around my neck) on one of the chairs then looked back to make sure everyone had cleared out before looking through the peephole to see the elderly lady that lived across from me.

I opened the door, trying not to look disheveled. "Hi Mrs. Howard, what can I do for you?"

"I heard some commotion sweetheart," her sweet, old shaky voice said. Her nosy eyes through her bifocals tried to look into my apartment. I moved over slightly, blocking her view and brought the door closer to me, shutting out the view. Finally, she looked at me. "I thought I'd come over and check."

I smiled politely, leaning into my door. "Everything is fine Mrs. Howard. I'm just moving some things around."

"Do you want me to call my grandson? He could help you," she said excitedly for she had been trying to set me up with her grandson for the longest, but he was twenty-five and currently an "uprising" rapper. "No it's okay my uh... my boyfriend is here."

"Ooh, the doctor? He's gorgeous. If I was twenty years younger I'd steal him from you" She smiled and I laughed. This lady was crazy. "Well, I won't hold you. Have a good night."

"Goodnight Mrs. Howard," she turned around and went back to her apartment. I sighed and shut and locked my door. Caleb had moved and made himself comfortable on my couch, while Michael stood leaning against the wall a few feet from me.

"So he's a doctor?" He smiled and I rolled my eyes. I didn't know why he was acting like he didn't know everything there was to know about Hassan. He was just playing around with me like aways.

"What are you two doing here Caleb?" I asked, ignoring Michael and walked to sit in one of the two ash gray chairs. Michael went to sit in one of my white dinning chairs, turning it around so it was facing me. The three men that were in the kitchen, including the one I hurt, came walking out spreading out around the room. I felt uncomfortable. Not because I thought they were going to hurt me (Michael and Caleb would never allow that to happen), but I had 5 criminals in my apartment.

"We got a dead skunk in the mail the day you left, Calliope," Michael said and my eyes widened.

"Y'all got one too?" I asked my jaw dropping a little, but I quickly closed it.

"Too?" Caleb asked, his brows furrowing.

Michael scooted to the end of the chair, "what the fuck do you mean too?"

"I-I m-mean..."

Michael cut me off, mocking my stuttering before getting completely out of his seat. "What the fuck do you mean too, Calliope Marie?" Michael looked around at the three men who'd made themselves seen but not heard in my apartment. "Scout the area. Be discrete, but keep your eyes open," he told them and they made their way out of my apartment one-by-one.

Michael and Caleb's attention where now fully on me. "We called you a hundred times Calliope," Caleb said his jaw clenching as he sat in the couch across from me.

"For Christ sakes! I'm a surgeon. My phone isn't on me 24/7 and when I do have it on me it's on DND because I can't have it ringing in the middle of me speaking to a patient." I lifted up from the seat and pulled out my phone seeing all the miss calls I had from an unknown number, "and you know I don't answer numbers that aren't saved!"
