ALL MY LOYAL FANS, HERE IS THE FINAL PART OF OUR EPIC LOVE STORY! HOPE YOU ALL ENJOY IT.
MISSYSWIFE37Christian Kane was looking forward to a restful weekend. Looking down the table of the packed boardroom, he knew everyone was. The Refugio team sat side-by-side with the CR Roma friends they'd made over the course of this grueling engagement, and no one seemed to mind putting in the extra hours tonight to witness a moment for the history books.
Christian took Dani's hand the table and toyed with the ring on her finger, and he smiled secretly when he felt her squeeze him in response to his excited attentions. Whether it was their upcoming wedding that had finally enticed Parise to cave to Ackles's demands, who knew, but after a long day of finalizing documents, Jensen had his pen over the acquisition papers. The CR Roma execs across the long table had already executed the mountain of documents, and now it was Jensen's turn to sign for Refugio.
Three weeks ahead of schedule.
The ebullience moving through the room danced like electricity along a wire. This wasn't the end of their work by any means; they'd start the merger operations next. But now that the full-court press was done, Jensen had already promised the team they'd have the rest of the weekend off and then three-day weekends for the remaining duration of the assignment.
In short, once the papers were signed, they all had a full forty-eight hours with nothing else to do but enjoy spring in Italia. From him and Dani, it meant a weekend devoted to wedding planning... and other adventures.
Christian's thoughts scattered when he felt the vibration signaling the receipt of a text message on the iPhone in his pocket. Must be 11:04, he thought, the time when he received his daily RSS feeds from the newspapers headquartered in the eastern time zone of the U.S. The morning editions reached him faithfully between eleven and noon every day, while the evening posts followed like clockwork twelve hours later.
The topics of interest that he followed on his feeds, however, covered a limited scope. The only reason he received any messages twice a day was because of the tabs he kept on the Yankees, the Knicks, and the Red Bulls. Information on his other keywords rarely traveled down the wires since the papers hardly ever ran anything remotely related to matter concerning the Syndicate or Refugio. He tracked the names of everyone on both payrolls, as well as the major players that might impact their interests, such as Tahmoh Penikett and Jeffery Dean Morgan. If he got a tidbit off the presses at all, it was usually something regarding Pileggi's latest public appearance and often required no notice to Jensen.
But when he drew the phone from his pocket to steal a glance at the scores, it wasn't the Yankees' Opening Day loss to the Red Sox that had him breaking into a cold sweat.
Keeping the screen from view, Kane quietly excused himself from the boardroom, not even taking the time to explain his exit to Dani. He no sooner had the door closed behind him before he was running full speed down the corridor to the large room the Refugio team called The Inferno, the conference room they'd called home for -
"Jesus Christ, nine months," he said out loud, hoping to God the feed contained a colossal misprint as he fired up the nearest workstation.
His fingers battered out the web address for the Regional, navigated to the celebration and announcement pages, and he felt the blood drain from his face.
The Regional sends best wishes and congratulations
