A Dragon Lying in Wait....

Misha hung up the phone and smiled.

Jared had just given him all the info he needed.

And every damaging word was fully recorded.

He'd been waiting for hours outside the rock wall ringing the villa for some indication of Jensen's game plan, and the last thirty minutes had rewarded his exercise in patience rather nicely.

He had figured Jensen would split up his little family, but he had to admit, he hadn't expected Dani Harris' little Alfa to arrive at these gates and depart moments later with a car seat in the rear. Instead of keeping Justice with Jared, apparently Jensen preferred to stage this war on three fronts, and Misha couldn't help commending him for his cunning. But even so, it posed only a minor setback; there would be time to catch up with Signorina Harris and her precious cargo later.

That is, once he had Jared securely back in hand.

Problem was, when he had seen the GranCabrio leave, he couldn't tell which one of them was in the car on account of the windows' dark privacy tint.

He knew now, after talking to Jared, that he was the one piloting the Maserati while Jensen stayed behind to defend hearth and home.

He also knew that he could no longer trust Jared.

He had lied to him about Justice, saying his son was with him. He had lied to him about Jensen, saying he didn't know whether his husband was home alone.

He would make him pay for that.

He spent the duration of the swift sprint back to his car entertaining the many ways in which he might choose to do so.

But first, and most certainly foremost?

His dark smile flashed again as he reached his own rented gray GrandCario parked at an abandoned property down the road from the casale.

"Jensen," his hissed. "You, my dear friend, finish first."

Jensen's head snapped up when he heard a car come tearing down his driveway, and one look out the window had him leaping to his feet.

"Goddammit, Jared, why are you back here?" he shouted as he bolted down the upstairs hall. "Didn't I make it clear it's imperative you follow my orders to the letter on this one?"

'Maybe he forgot something important,' he thought, as he took the stairs two at a time. If so, he had to be quick, and from the sound of the screeching stop he had just made at the front doors, he seemed to know it.

"Well at least that's promising," he grumbled.

But then his desperate pounding on the door made Jensen rethink his motivations.

'He's putting his foot down about all of us staying together.'

"And you won't take no for an answer very easily, now will you?" Jensen sighed, readying himself for the battle to come.

Jensen had his fingers on the doorknob when he heard the words that made his blood boil.

"I'm going to get Justice and - and just take him somewhere," he was telling him through the thick wood. "I don't know where yet, but I think it's best if I take my chances and run."

Jensen fought the instinct to clear leather. His hand actually went to the holster at his side, and it took everything in his power to keep his Kimber sheathed.

"You're lucky I promised myself long ago that I'd never pull on you again, Jared," Jensen warned as he flung open the door.

And came face-to-muzzle with the barrel of a Para Ordnance.
