The next few chapters won't include the love interest, just a heads up. :) Thanks for reading!

A had been a week since Kylee and Henry last had a conversation aside from talking in geometry.  It's one of those things where you're not necessarily friends but you're not not friends.

"So how's things with you and Henry?" Brittany asked with a smirk.

"Oh shut up,"  Kylee responded. "There's nothing going on and you know it." She says this but secretly hopes its not necessarily true.

Biology had just let out and Kylee and Brittany headed to the classroom in which they have lunch every single day aside from Tuesdays and Thursdays.

"Hey Mr. Simmons," Brittany called out as they entered the classroom.

"OK," Brittany breathed out. "I thought that you were going to tutor Henry? What happened with that?"

"Honestly I think he's kind of faking it," Kylee replied. "I mean, I haven't messaged him about tutoring and he hasn't said anything on Instagram or in class so honestly I don't know."

"You keep asking about Henry, but what about you and Carter? Hmm?"

Kylee enjoyed teasing her friend about her somewhat crush especially when it means she can change the subject.

"OK yeah how did that happen? You and I both and up tutoring people who claim to be terrible at math, but actually have decent grades?" It doesn't make sense if you get what I mean." Brittany made a confused face as she wracked her brain over this fact.

"Do you think they're both faking? Like they got together and made it into some big joke?" Kylee questioned.

"I don't know and honestly I don't wanna think about that right now. I have enough on my plate."

"Oh yeah," Kylee sighed. "You really won't know until next weekend?"

"No I won't. I really wish I already knew because this is just really stressful you know?"

Kylee nodded beckoning her friend to continue.

"I mean I haven't even seen the inside of it yet, only the outside. I mean it looks alright I just really don't wanna have to leave.  I'm fine with us getting into the house and me being able to stay in Cashmere but if getting the house means leaving then I don't want it."

Kylee had recently learned of some shocking news. Her friend Brittany may be leaving their school and to transfer to a different one. They had only known each other since freshman year but since then they had bonded. Kylee immediately gets sad every time she thinks about it; she just doesn't show it.

"Yeah I'm really sorry about this dude," Kylee apologized.

"Don't be," Brittany replied. "It's not your fault."

"I know I'm just really sorry that you might be leaving."

"Me too."

Brittany was the first to break the straining silence.

"So you're not going on Thursday then?"

"No I'm sorry man. It would just be really awkward and I mean I know it's your birthday and all but-"

"No, it's alright," Brittany interrupted. "I get it and I wouldn't want you to sit there being uncomfortable."

"Yeah," Kylee responded.

The two filled the rest of lunch with small talk and eating. When the bell rang, they left the room and walked to their next class side-by-side.

I'm really going to miss this, the two thought simultaneously.
