I think I should retell the story of how Cassie and I actually became friends. Yeah, we sat next to each other in Seventh Grade Science and her gum smelt horrible, which is an understatement, (apparently, it was Mango and Watermelon flavored), but I never told the story of how our relationship blossomed.
She was sitting by herself at lunch and I wanted to sit next to her until I remembered the scent of that gum! It was just excruciatingly disgusting on the nose, but I decided against not sitting with her.
"Hi, I don't know if you remember me, but I'm Harper," I said with a boom of confidence I did not know I possessed, "We're in the same Science Class"
"Ohhh, that's where I know you from." She said shakily.
Her eyes darted across the table, not entirely believing if I was actually talking to her. She started to say something before she stopped herself and outstretched her hand. "This is new," I thought to myself, but I still shook her hand regardless. After this, she smiled a smile that I had never seen before. It had the type of energy that made you want to smile and forget all of your worries and struggles. I quickly sat down after, not wanting to seem weird or anything.
"So, what did you want to talk to me about?"
"Oh, um, I thought you might want someone to sit with, and well, we kinda already knew each other, so uh, yeah." I heard myself sound way more anxious than I intended, but I think I'm more anxious than anybody intended really.
"Well then, sit," Cassie said with a glint in her eyes.
