    MADELINE'S P.O.V

I ran down River Street. Never in my life have I felt so joyfully blessed to walk down the street I walk on from Monday to Friday on my way to school. The only thing that bugged me was the sentence that my mother did not entirely finish. I knew what I had coming my way when I get home, honestly I don't want to go back to that house. I know I'll have to eventually but I'm going to get my derrière beat anyway why not make the most of it?

I walk past some cute looking stores. I recognise some of the names, Gucci, Prada, Burberry, Tommy Hilfiger, dolce and Gabana and so on. I have some clothing from those stores. I walk past them and see a cafe that I've wanted to enter for almost 2 years now. GRIND HOUSE it read. I rushed inside to be greeted by a very comfy and cosy, industrial looking coffee place.

I went up to the employee that stood behind the counter. I caught a glimpse of his name, Phillip. "Hello there pretty lady how can I help you?" He said in a very bubbly way. His voice was so angelic it just made me forget my worries of going home. "Yes you can" I smiled after saying that, some would call my smile a Love smile. My Nanna always told me I had a Love smile, I miss her a lot... she passed away 4 years ago. I looked into Philips eyes and said "may I have a Café Au Lait  s'il vous plain?" I said in my best French , " yes of cours- OMG WHAT THE HELL ARE YOU DOING HERE!?" I turned around and saw a very cute looking guy walking into the shop with a mischievous smirk on his face "hello to you to love" he said as he came up beside me and kissed, I'm guessing his boyfriend Philip on his cheek. He however did not seem to thrilled about him being at his work place. "sIT DoWn RIgHt noW and you DARE distract me!" He sneered. I giggled a bit at his response. The boys smirk disappeared as he threw his hands up in surrender. "Alrighty but I want coffee" he threw a wink at Phillip before leaving. A wisp breath left Phillips lips in an annoyed manner. "Boys keep yah busy huh?" He said while looking at the coffee he had prepared for me while talking to dude that walked into the shop. "I guess they do.. uhh n-not that I would know but em yeah I guess" it sounded more like a question than an answer. He chuckled before speaking "oh my you're adorable" He handed me my coffee and I thanked him. I went to walk out of the shop but not before catching a wave from who I assume is Phillips boyfriend. I just noticed how reckless he looked, leather jacket, combat boots and on one hand black painted nails. But yet his hair was perfectly done. It didn't really match the rest but it somehow suited him very well. I was walking down a street that I suppose you could call calm for New York City. I decided on walking another 15 minutes and then taking the bus to 5th Ave to visit the The Metropolitan Museum of Art. I remember going there once with my dad. But that was a long time ago. A arrived at the bus stop. I never really used the bus so I didn't really get how it worked. I sat down becoming nervous because I didn't know what to do. I started fidgeting with my hands. I looked to my right and saw a boy. A boy around my age maybe older. A boy maybe not considered handsome by all but I would have to disagree with those people. After I noticed I was staring I noticed a tear falling down his left eye. I panicked, I've never really comforted someone since I don't have any friends or whatever. 'what I'm I supposed to do? I can't just leave him there crying, can I? But what if he doesn't want to have a conversation with me?' Before it crosses my mind to rethink my actions I sat on the left side of the bench the boy sat on. I sat upright, keeping my posture very straight. Knees squeezed together. I was afraid my galloping heart would stop beating once and for all. 'Okay mads you got this' I said to myself before letting out a deep breath and turning my head to the right. And just jumped into the deep end.

  " uh u uhmm.. h-h-hi?"
