1 YEAR LATER

CLEO Davenport resided in Chatoyer Café  with the look of disapproval displayed brightly across her face. She sat in the warmly lit café for over 15 minutes waiting for her friends who made the mistake of expecting Cleo to wait on anyone. Not only was it rude but it was embarrassing, Cleo felt as if she looked like a loser or someone who got stood up by a good-for-nothing date, and god forbid anyone think something as pathetic as that could happen to Cleo. To minimize her internal embarrassment, Cleo blocked out the public with her oversized Cartier sunglasses, she felt as that if she couldn't see anyone, they couldn't see her.

Frantically texting her friends for the 10th time in a row, she glanced up hearing the ringing bells of the café door indicating someone coming in, fortunately it was her friends.

"Coco! We are so sorry, okay. There was a holdup at Saks, the cashier said my card was declined and that statement alone was enough to offend me for eternity." Tasha spat out hurriedly, catching her breath in-between since she was probably running to meet Cleo.

Cleo stuck out her hand to fix Tasha's chocolate hair, certain pieces clung to her forehead and others a mess on top of her head. "For a tragedy like that you're allowed to be 15 minutes late." Cleo tittered, she also greeted Naomi with a hug who reluctantly hugged her back, she seemed to be in a bad mood having not said one word in the entire exchange.

"Mimi, what's wrong. I can spot that miserable face miles away. Did the Saks cashier also tell you your card was declined?" Cleo said lightly, trying to get a laugh out of Naomi.

"Oh wow, so funny!" Naomi rolled her eyes as she threw her Balmain purse on the counter, she quickly signaled the waiter to get her a glass of lemon water. It was clear to see that annoyance radiated off her. She might as well just wear a big sign that reads "I'M ANNOYED".

"She'll be fine. Just overreacting as always. I don't even know why she's mad, the kid was literally our friend and still is. What's the big-"

Cleo's eyes got bigger as she realized who Tasha was talking about, "Wait, please don't tell me-"

Tasha stopped stealing the crumbs of chocolate cake from Cleo's plate to meet her eyes, she nodded in response letting Cleo fill in the rest of the gaps. "Yep, Lauder's back, baby!", Tasha exclaimed while licking the remaining crumbs off her finger.

Cleo took a minute in silence, she couldn't process that it had already been a year since Joshua left and was shipped off to boarding school. How did time fly so quickly? She vividly remembered Joshua throwing that award-winning punch too that landed him right in England with blazers and ties.

Tasha noticed Cleo's face change from elated to then matching Naomi's mood of annoyance. "Okay, so I sense you two are annoyed so I feel like I should be too. Why are we annoyed?"
