IT WAS the first Monday after Winter Break, and East Bridge High was back in session, or as Joshua and Tasha like to call it—hell.

The sun barely started to rise as certain rays of it glimmered through the windows of Eric's penthouse, spilling onto the floor and right in the eye-line of Joshua Lauder. Expressing his aggravations through muffled groans, he tried to suffocate himself with the pillow hoping it might kill him before school starts. It was a bittersweet moment for Joshua, he was more than happy to be back from boarding school and in his hometown of the city, but East Bridge High had worse people than the boys he had met in England.

The sky gradually became clear and brighter, more of the sun's honey colored rays continuously poured in disrupting the natural R.E.M cycle for both boys. Inevitably, they had to get up and start getting ready.

Joshua's first instinct was to reach for his phone, he was met with angry texts from his father as well as anxiety ridden voicemails from his mother. He hadn't been home since the first day he got back from England, he honestly figured they wouldn't really miss him. His dad was usually on business trips, helping build the Lauder brand before it spirals into its impending doom. While his mother was usually out having brunch with her other rich lady friends. Moral of the story—it seemed like they didn't give a shit about their sons, so Josh went about his life in that way.

Eric was the first one out of the shower, he likes to maintain a routine of getting up early—even during breaks or holidays—he finds comfort in routines, it's effortless for him. He was going to harass Joshua in an attempt to wake him up but as he walked into the guest bedroom, Joshua had a look on his face. Eric wasn't sure what the look was, but it was definitely something to be concerned about.

"Hey, babycakes. Everything alright over there?" Eric asked out of concern as he rubbed a spare towel through his dampened hair.

It took a minute for Joshua to realize Eric was talking to him. "Uh, yeah. Sorry, it's just my parents, they're wondering where I am."

"Oh, don't you think you should probably go see them? You haven't been home since, I think you're mom might have a heart attack soon if she doesn't see you." Eric knew the reason why Joshua didn't like being home, but he still had to try and encourage the idea of him going back sometime soon.

"I promise you she really doesn't care. But I do need my uniform. Shit." Joshua spoke with panic, he forgot about the uniform at his high school, though he was grateful it wasn't as restrictive as the boarding schools'.

"Yes you're parents are assholes but I still think you should at least go see them after school. And if you do, don't tell them you were with me. I don't want your dad to put a hit out on me for keeping his son away from him."

"I wouldn't let him do that, and plus, he's the reason his own son doesn't want to see him. Nobody else."

"Yeah yeah, we can continue this therapy session at lunch but for right now go shower. I also have a spare uniform in my closet so hopefully it fits." Eric nodded towards the direction of his closet as he began gelling his—in his own words—perfect hair into tousled waves.
