Ding!
Evan ran to the oven, checking his cookies. He opened and a huge wave of heat engulfed his face. He pulled away, as he rubbed his eyes. He grabbed the two mitten things, he forgot what they were called, and pulled out the cookies.
He giggled in enthusiasm. They looked perfect. They were nicely flattened, but not too flattened. He made sure to let them rest so they wouldn't get so hard. He hated when he would go to stores, by his chocolate chip cookies, and noticed that they were hard and too.. mushy.
Evan had walked home, he didn't wanna ride the bus or call his mom to pick him up. He loved to look at the trees passing by him. Even if it was for a short time.
He had discovered his love for baking end of May or early June. His mom had bought cupcake mix and, well, Evan really wanted cupcakes. He found it fun mixing all the ingredients, he didn't care if he messed up, he jut added more to the other portions. There was so messing up in baking and he loved that. He hadn't really told anyone besides his mom, he knew they would just laugh at him.
He waited for his cookies to cool, and went to sit at the couch. He was bored. He had done all his homework already and Jared was still busy doing whatever he was doing.
He decided to take a walk. He scribbled down a few words telling his mom he'd be out in case she came back early. He doubted it though.
He locked the door and hid his key in the secret spot.
Under the mat.
No one would find it there, he smiled in triumph. He began walking, not really knowing where his feet were taking him.
He had taken a few cookies with him, he'd decided he would sit and play with his phone to occupy his mind. He'd eat his cookies, look at more baking videos, and go home.
Suddenly, he noticed he was at an orchard. He looked around there was gate in front of him. He thought it had been locked since the place looked worn down and abandoned. He entered through the door and gasped in amazement.
There were so many different trees! It was fall so all of them were beautiful shades of color. He examined all of them, putting his hand on the bark of every single one he passed.
How come he had never been here before? It's like the trees were just there waiting for him. The place seemed to bring some familiarity, but Evan couldn't pin point why or how. He continued looking at everything. He noticed a mountain near the back of the orchard and decided to explore.
He couldn't help the huge smile that was plastered on his face as he ran towards the mountain.
And tripped.

Connor had seen him walk in.
He had wanted to go up to him and yell at him on why he had followed him to his sacred place. He was getting up when he suddenly saw how happy he looked. His shoulders seemed less tense. They were slumped and his face didn't hold those tense muscles anymore.
He saw even skip and begin touching the trees in amazement. Evan looked around. Connor was scared he had seen him but it seemed as though he was too preoccupied with... well whatever he was doing.
Connor couldn't help but smile. He looked like such a kid. He looked like a kid in a toy store. Looking around in amazement. His eyes seemed to twinkle and Connor couldn't help the faint blush appear on his cheeks.
Stop.
He wanted to resume his drawing, but too captivated with Evan to do so. Evan suddenly stopped noticing the mountain in the back. His smile widened as he began to run towards it.
