(listen to the song above for ultra sadness)

A/N: This is an emotional chapter so get the tissues ready. Mentions of blood and pain so if you're squeamish to those two things, proceed this chapter with caution. Thank you.

A month had passed, and Madison's life was going well. She was with the brunette almost everyday and they were working out what they were feeling for one another, together. She started sitting at her old lunch table and joked around as if nothing had become different in her life, when only her and the taller girl knew the truth. She was starting to show, although it was hard to tell because of how bloated she had became lately, and she was afraid people would find out and she would be shamed right out of the prestigious school. Zoe had been taking care of her and helping her with a gentle hand through the early stages of her pregnancy, and that only made her fall more in love with her. After school had concluded that day, the blonde had to go to her OBGYN for a normal checkup, and as usual, the taller girl accompanied her just like she had been doing whenever she had an appointment. When they got into the car together, a sharp pain erupted in the bottom of her stomach, but she pushed it to the side as they drove to the clinic in silence, which gave her time to think. She had been feeling well, too well, these past few days, and she was worried about the lack of symptoms she had been experiencing lately. When they pulled into the parking lot of the office, she felt the pain sharpen, but she gritted her teeth and climbed out of the small vehicle, walking as slowly as possible to keep the pain at bay. She signed in and she sat in one of the plush chairs closer to the door the nurse came out of to get her, so she wouldn't put more pressure on herself than she needed to. The wait felt agonizing, and by the time the nurse had called her back, she was in nearly unbearable pain. Zoe had to support her because walking had become such a difficult task for her, and she felt relief as she laid on the table in the room where she would be examined. Her hand was gripping hers so tightly that she could almost feel the bones in her hand break, but she allowed her to keep the tight grip if it helped to ease her mind or her pain.

"Okay miss Montgomery, I can sense you're nervous but everything will be just fine. It'll be a normal checkup, just like last time." The nurse said kindly, placing her hand on her shoulder before ordering her to lift up her shirt so she could apply the jelly that made it possible to see her growing baby. She relaxed her body and closed her eyes, waiting for the appreciative sigh the nurse had been making whenever she heard the baby's heartbeat, but the sigh never came. She opened her eyes and looked at the woman sitting inches away from her, who wore a sad expression.

"We're going to send you the hospital for further checkup. It's nothing to worry about sweetheart, it's just our equipment has been acting up lately and not giving us accurate ultrasounds. Let me allow you to get cleaned up and a paramedic should be in shortly to escort you and your friend right there." She forced a smile on her tired face and she stood up quickly from the machine, exiting the room but leaving the door slightly ajar behind her. She strained to hear voices, any at all, but all she heard were mumbles and unintelligible words.

"It's okay blondie, I'm sure it's nothing to be worried over." The brunette said reassuringly, rubbing the back of her hand affectionately. She nodded at her words, but she was still unconvinced. When the pair of paramedics came into the ultrasound to load her up, she tried her luck at questioning them, but they just ignored her and talked between themselves, keeping their voices as low as possible. The ride to the hospital was relatively short, considering the clinic was a mere 5 or so minutes away, and the time allotted made her even more afraid. Was something wrong with the baby? Was something wrong with her? Was she in grave danger of complications and or death?? All those questions and more collided inside her head as they took her to one of the many empty rooms in the corridor they were standing in and she felt a pinch on her arm as they inserted an iv into the skin of her arm.
