---------------------Three years before--------------------
"Come on Luke hurry up" Cal whined pausing for me at the corner of the street.
"Yeah coming" i say shaking my head taking me out of my trance.
"God what happened you completely zoned out on me" Cal says looking at my worriedly.
"Yeah it just that...nothing....never mind" I manage to say still sounding distant looking back into the little coffee shop where the girl was sitting. I have seen her everyday for the past year passing by this street to get to school.
Everyday she orders the same coffee with milk no sugar in her own personal mug that says 'with enough coffee i could conquer the world' in bold black letters.
Everyday she's inside the little coffee shop reading the paper sipping her coffee in a different old shirt that is way to big for her petite body. The shirt could of been her dads or her boyfriends or older brothers but defiantly not hers. Her hair still looked uncombed from her sleep yet its still looked nice as though it was meant to be that way, in perfectly curly waves in a milk brown color similar to the color of her coffee.
With waves coming down to slightly below her shoulder but she never seemed bothered by the fact that is was uncombed. She had big black nerd glasses just to read the paper and every morning she would sit down next to the window sipping her coffee looking effortlessly beautiful reading the morning paper.
She seemed so mature so out of my league but still all i want is to talk to her find out about her life. Why does she always wear an old over sized t-shirt? Why does she read the paper every morning? Why does she chose this exact spot every day? Why this coffee shop? Why the same mug? Why not use the paper cup that the store gives you?
All these stupid little questions i just wanted to know the answer too. I just wanted ot get to know her. She just seemed to interesting for some reason. Maybe it was the way she sipped her coffee or tugged her hair behind her ear or the way she looked reading the paper furrowing her eyebrows every time she read about some war or conflict as though she was confused as to why it was happening.
All those stupid little detail that i figured out by over a year of glimpses of her by the coffee shop window made her interesting and just made me want to get to know her.
"Was is the coffee girl" Cal says nudging my shoulder taking me out of my train of thought was we crossed the street.
"Oh shut up" I mumble under my breathe looking at my shoes.
"Your unbelievable" Cal says laughing obviously noticing it is about the coffee girl. I don't know her name so we decided to call her 'the coffee girl' since she's always drinking coffee.
"She caught me looking at her today" I mumble sheepishly chuckling at how stalkerish i must have looked.
"oh god Luke" Cal says shaking his head laughing at me.
"She smiled at me though we shared eye contact" I say happily since for me this is an improvement than just catching a glimpse of her everyday through the coffee shop window on the way to school. I mean we did share an interaction, right.
"OH MY GOD YOU SHARED EYE CONTACT. WOW YOU HAVE TO TELL EVERYONE THIS IS REMARKABLE" Cal shouts clearly being sarcastic laughing at how ridiculous i must sound.
"Shut up Cal" I mumble as we finally reach the school entrance entering to another boring day at school but all i could think about was the dimpled smile the coffee girl gave me that morning.
-----------------Present time-------------
"Look Luke a coffee shop" Cal says nudging me as i blankly look at him confused, "You know like the one coffee girl was every morning on our way to school"
"Who's Coffee girl?" Ash asks wiggling his eyebrows at me.
"A girl he was madly in love with when we were in school" Micheal butts in as i lightly shove him trying to get them to shut up.
"I was not 'madly in love' with her. She's just somebody that i used to know" I say staring at my shoes, "Plus she has a name" I add looking at Cal.
"Oh yeah what is it then" Cal asks tauntingly.
"Hazel" I answer bluntly smiling at her name. She liked her coffee to always have some hazel in it. She thought that maybe by having hazel in her coffee could become more like her name. I was a stupid theory but all those stupid theories is what made me like her so much those years back.
"how do you know i thought you never spoke to her" Cal asks me furrowing his eyebrows confused.
"We had a cup of coffee together" I say smiling back at the memory," 'many friendships start over a cup of coffee' " i add quoting something she once told me a few years ago.
