--------------------------Two years ago----------------------

"So i guess i'm the one paying coffee today?" I ask Hazel towering over her small frame.

"I paid Friday so yes its your turn" She say smiling up at me giving me a hug its been a month school's ending and yet every day she still gets coffee.

Every morning we alternate on who's paying since the first time she paid for me then the next day i paid for her and so on.

"Hank give us our usual" I say to Hank once we get to the front giving him the coffee mug Hazel always carries.

"So did you bring a newspaper this morning" Hazel teases. she always makes fun of me for not reading the newspaper if you ask me i think i should be making fun at her for reading it.

"Nope I like not being depressed by wars and death in the morning" I answer back sticking my tongue out at her.

"Its not depressing its the real world" She argues.

"Exactly" I respond taking our coffee's off the counter once they're ready.

Over the past month every morning we have talked. You know small talk but every time she says something that captivates me. Yeah it sounds cheesy but to me she's gorgeous. Cal and Micheal disagree they think she's all right but not amazing. I think she's wonderful.

"You have to face the real world one time or another" She says sitting down in her normal spot as i sit down next to her.

"God do you always have to be an intellectual and have to know everything" I joke poking her side.

"Like Carl Sagen once said 'if you wish to make an apple pie from scratch you frist have to create the universe" She replies cheekily as i look at her blankly.

"What does that even mean?" I ask sounding stupid as i always do but she always did this. She quotes random 'philosophers' and 'writers' that i have never heard before and then she quoted them using the weirdest quotes that no one but her understands.

"Its mean that if you want to understand how to make basic everyday stuff like apple pie you first have to understand the fundamental laws of the universe and this is the same thing with society. If you want to understand it then you have to understand its fundamental laws which is politics and current events. And i do that by reading the newspaper and by understanding that i can change it." She says as though it was obvious though I'm still confused but i gave up trying to understand her random quotes last week.

"Your beautiful when you talk nerdy to me" I respond smiling at her. God i just wanna kiss her. She's older than me though and i have no idea why she's even talking to me since i must seem like an idiot compared to who ever she talks to about these things to.

"oh shut up" She blushes as she smacks my arm with her rolled up newspaper. She goes to a private school close to this street but it starts an hour later than mine. She likes having time to read the newspaper and drink her coffee before school.

"I'm not kidding" I say honestly god i just want to hug her. She's hugged me almost 10 times i think and i still just want to hold her there forever.

"You see i want to change the world. I'm gonna do just that" She says determination in her eyes as she smiles going into her own little trance, "I'm going to join the peace core become the president. I'm going to fix everything. All this death and war and hunger i'm going to stop it then you can finally read the newspaper with out being depressing. Sounds like a plan to you" She say finally looking at me.
