"I guess we're going to the party Saturday after all," I tell Naya as we walk out of school.
"WHAT? Are you pranking me Lia?" Naya replies back.
"Nope, Tyler asked me in class today, since it's at his house, and my big mouth said yes,"
"Wait, wait, wait, Tyler asked you to come?"
"Yeah, he told me to come along with Aiydan, and to bring you to,"
"What the fuck!"
"Yeah I know. I should learn how to think before I speak from now on,"
"This is amazing, If I knew you just needed Tyler to ask you, I would have gotten him to ask you sooner," she says laughing to herself.
"Not funny Naya,"
"This means we have to go shopping, lets go to the mall tomorrow to get some new outfits for the party,"
"I think I'm okay, Ill just wear whatever I have,"
"Lia, all your clothes are either to casual, or you look like your going to a funeral. You need something more girly, sexy,"
"Sexy? Say that to my mother"
"She wont know! Come on Lia live a little. You can change in the car, just like freshman year."
Freshman year. I would leave the house in an outfit of my mothers liking and then change into my outfit of choice in the car, while my older sister would drive us to school. My brother would roll his eyes, and swore he would snitch on me every time, but my sister always had my back and threatened my brother.
My sister was so much more different then me. She was a free spirit and marched to her own beat. She would wear whatever she wanted, not caring about how revealing it was, or how pissed my mother would get. She would stay out late, and party every weekend. She still kept her grades up, because that was her only way to leave home. She got into a good school on scholarships and started to dorm. Now she's in the University of Southern California living her best life. After she left, thats when the guilt hit me. I didn't want to disappoint my parents, so I always ended up doing the right thing. I never wore anything to revealing, I barely went out, and I always got the best grades in school. I know nothing would happen to me if I behaved like my sister, but I just didn't want to cause my parents stress. Maybe I'm done though. Maybe I should use this last month to be who I really want to be.
"Fine. I'll go shopping with you, and MAYBE I'll get something," I tell Naya annoyed.
"That's the spirit! This is going to be so much fun!"
"Yeah...So...Much...Fun" I respond nervously.
