I wake up to the sound of my mom cooking downstairs. The opening and closing of cabinets aren't helping with this migrane I regretfully have. I roll over on my stomach and press my pillow to the top of my head. Suddenly, I have bits and pieces of last night play out in my head like a timeline. I remember everything from when I started taking shot after shot with Tyler, to jumping on the pool table, to being carried away, and throwing up on Tyler's floor. I don't remember the rest, and panic takes over my body. I am beyond mortified. I get drunk for the first time in my life and end up puking on Tyler Smith's bedroom floor. Maybe I should fake an illness and be homeschooled. That wont work, I only have a month left. Maybe I should act like I don't remember. Yes, we will go with that.
I roll back over and stare at the ceiling. I realize i'm still in the same clothes as last night. Fuck. Did I walk into the house like this? Did my mother see me? Wait. How did I even get home?
I quickly jump out of bed, head to the bathroom and take a quick shower. The only person who can answer my questions are my brother. I quickly scrub my body and wash my hair. After I get dressed, I head to his room. I open the door and see him playing video games.
"What happened last night? I have a massive headache," I say sitting down next to him.
"Well, you got drunk and threw up on Tyler's floor," He responds smiling.
"Don't remind me," I groan, "If anyone asks I don't remember, how did I even get home?"
"Do you really not remember the rest of the night?"
"The last thing I remember is throwing up,"
"Let me remind you little sis. After you threw up, you fell asleep, and Tyler laid you on his bed. I guess he went looking for me to take you home, but you know..." He says smirking, "He found Matt before he found me, and took him to you, but when Matt saw you on the bed he totally freaked out on him,"
"About what!?"
"I don't know, Let me finish!" My brother whines, "After that Matt picked you up, and took you to his car and drove you home. When I pulled up to the house around 2, you guys were still in his car, you obviously were still passed out asleep, and Matt was sitting there watching Netflix,"
"Wow." I say shocked
"Yeah, and then me being the good brother that I am, took you inside and threw you on your bed and left,"
"My savior, what would I do without you?"
"Ring the doorbell and have mom answer the door?"
I roll my eyes and thank him. But really I should be thanking Matt, or should I be thanking Tyler? I should be apologizing to Tyler and thanking Matt.
I head into the kitchen and the smell of pancakes makes me realize how hungry I am.
"Ready to eat sweetie?" My mother asks me
"You don't have to ask me twice,"
"Here," She hands me a plate with eggs on it, "Save some for your dad,"
I take two chocolate chip pancakes and douse them with syrup. My first bite is like heaven. This is what I was missing.
"How was the party last night?"
"It was good, you know the usual,"
"What exactly is the usual, you barely go to these things, probably one per year," My mom laughs
"Well whatever Aiydan tells you about them, thats the usual,"
"Oh I see. Did you drink?"
"Yeah mom, I got wasted, and danced on a pool table!"
"Don't be sarcastic honey,"
But I did.
"Anyways, Im glad you had fun, it's your last month of high school, this is the time to have fun," my mother says, sounding like she's trying to convince herself. "I know I can trust you and you wont do anything to disappoint us, so maybe you should go to the next one to."
Instant guilt hits my body. "Uhh yeah...we'll see." Im not hungry anymore so I leave my plate for my brother to finish. This is what happens when I try to have fun. I make a fool out of myself, and then my mother makes me feel guilty. I totally broke her trust, trust she has so much of.
I head back into my room and lay back on the bed. I decide to call Matt to thank him.
