Chapter 16: the med gang

At the end of the day my smile didn't leave my lips. I have got back some of my working habits. I pass in corridors from patient to patient. The staff seems to be happy to see me back, some nurses even asked about my engagement. Though my smile has nothing to due to them. No, it's this rushing feeling that runs in my veins, excitement making me eager and accelerate my brain, which work dozen times faster each time I'm with a patient. In a good mood or not, young or old, slightly injured or badly, every time I treat someone I get this sensations and the feeling of being useful.

I change back ready to finish my day. I have load of work to catch up but it can wait until tomorrow. I head toward the exit when I'm stopped by a loud voice.

- Stop right there!

I turn back and see an angry Kitty ready to kill. He runs to me and point his finger at me.

- How dare you?! Do you know how worried we were?

I don't have the time to open my mouth that he goes on.

- Are you all right?

He looks at every part of my body while dialing Pha's number.

- I found him; we're near the exit after the changing room. Get your ass here fast.

He disconnects the call still looking at me.

- I have to be worn by Saran that my best friend is back at work. Unbelievable!

Saran is Kit new enemy, apparently is worse than the devil according to Kit. Few minutes later Pha arrives running. I'm directly engulf in his arm.

- You should scold him, not hug him! Scolds Kit.

Pha breaks contact with me, yeah we're both afraid when he's that mad.

- How could you Beam? Do you know how worried we were? He shouts loudly.

I hold a giggle and stop myself from teasing Kit about his motherly attitude.

- Sorry, I mumble putting the saddest face I can come up with.

- When were you thinking to see us? And don't use your puppy eyes on me! It won't work this time!

Kit's face is red with anger, though his eyes soften slightly.

- Kitty, I say in a soft tone.

- Don't Kitty me! He ripostes.

- I'm really sorry...

I can see he's fighting to stay mad.

- And what all this madness about? You being engage to some man whereas you're totally straight!

Pha nod in agreement as Kit continues.

- And you being a girl, then back to yourself but still engaged...

My death is near... if they don't kill me for what I did, it's probably they're teasing that will finish me off.

- I'm going to explain.

- You better! You're not going anywhere tonight Beammie, Pha affirms.

I nod and type a text to Forth "I will be late, don't wait for me".

- Why don't we go to your place? I propose to Kit.

We head towards Kit's place which is two street away from the hospital. Sitting in the living room, he gave us a beer. I tell them everything since the beginning, that fateful day when I visited my grandfather. As I speak, I see all emotions pass their face, anger, disbelieving, sadness... We go for a second round of beer.
