"Shit!" James murmured as he frantically moved around the house getting his papers together.
After the fight last night between him and Monica, he threw himself into his work. Eventually he fell asleep 3 hours ago and overslept.
Now he was going to be late for an important meeting.
He went into the kitchen and quickly grabbed something to eat on his way to work.
Monica didn't even make breakfast, and he expected it. Whenever they would get into a fight, she wouldn't do anything for him, so he knew already not to expect anything.
He frowned, looking at his tie. James hesitantly went to the guest room and knocked on the door.
'You really need to learn how to prepare your own tie.' He internally rolled his eyes.
Immediately when Monica opened the door, she went straight to the tie and got it done for him without saying a thing.
James mumbled a 'thank you' and ran to his car so that he can at least make it in time for work.
As he pulled out the drive way, his tires screeched on the road - leaving a mark - he looked at the time and hit the steering wheel.
"Fuck! I'm so late!"
Just because he was one of the best architects at the firm and was offered a CEO position at a new company, James didn't consider himself special to not get a warning or get fired from work because of late coming.
And missing meetings was something he didn't want to do. It not only looked bad on him, but it also looked bad for the company, even if he was his own being.
12 minutes later he stopped at a traffic light, and decided to quickly check if his papers for the presentation were with him.
His search was fruitless and James cursed when he remembered he left them at home on the table.
He moved as the light turned green and quickly made a sharp u-turn, causing other drivers to honk at him for his reckless driving.
James stepped on the gas, as he called one of the men that was on his team.
"Mike!"
"James! Where are you? The clients are going to be walking in, in about 5 minutes."
"I know! I left the presentation on my desk and I am quickly going to get it. Just start without me."
"Are you sure?" Mike worriedly asked.
"Yes! You got this! I'm late as it is."
After a brief conversation with him, he hung up just as he was about to pull up by his house. He didn't even bother going onto the drive way.
James ran to the house. A frown appeared on his face when he saw that a car was pulled up on the drive way.
'Who the hell would be here so early.'
He quickly looked at the car to see if he could recognise it, but nothing.
Pushing the mysterious car at the back of mind, he hurriedly walked up to the door and into the house. A sigh of relief erupted when he saw his presentation on the table.
Quickly grabbing it, he was about to be on his way out, when something caught his eye on the floor.
'What the fuck? An orange tie? Maybe Monica bought it?'
James picked it up and headed for his bedroom.
"Monica?! I found this ugly orange looking tie an...the fuck?!"
