Donna sat on the couch, bored out of her mind as she flipped through the TV channels. At the same time her mind was clouded by different thoughts and that didn't help her state as her brain started feeling heavy.
She never thought that she'd ever find herself missing school, but that's what boredom did to a person. At least her mom would pull her out of this dull, but she had to wait until she came back from the grocery store.
Donna puffed out as she repeatedly banged her head on the armrest of the couch.
"I hate having to babysit an old woman." She whispered out to herself, referring to Monica.
Donna felt bad for her sister and the state she was in. Monica hadn't stopped crying ever since James basically closed the curtain on their marriage. She refused to talk to anyone, eat or go out and see some light. Her older sister confined her self in that bedroom and it was a sad sight to look at.
The cynical part of Donna felt that her sister, kinda deserved what happened, she needed to get over being dumped and move on. But her caring side didn't want to see her sister like this and hoped that James would come back and their family would be together again.
Donna was jolted out of her thoughts when she heard hurried steps walk down the passage. She rose up for her laying position and blinked a couple of times in confusion once her eyes landed on her older sister.
"Uh...Monica?" Donna slowly drew out as she stood from the couch and cautiously walked in the direction her sister went in, which was the kitchen.
Monica cheerfully sang and that confused the younger woman even more.
"Monica?"
"Where's mom?" The older woman asked as she started pulling out pots and cooking ingredients from the fridge.
"Uhm, she's out. What are you doing?" Donna asked.
Monica sang as she walked back and forth and did a light skip, causing Donna's eyes to widen in surprise.
"I am cooking!" Monica piped up.
"Why? Shouldn't you be in your room?"
"Why would I be in my room?" Monica rolled her eyes, like what Donna said the was craziest thing she had ever said.
"Mon-"
"Like I said, I am making dinner for James and I, and I will want it to be special!" Monica happily said, as she started chopping the vegetables.
Donna's mouth opened and closed like a fish as she tried to wrap her mind around her sister's new attitude. After a few moments, she composed herself and said.
"James is not here. He's not coming back." The younger woman slowly said, like she was explaining something difficult to a child.
Monica giggled. "Your silly. James is coming back."
"No, he's not." Donna sighed a bit at her harsh words when she saw a flash of sadness cross Monica's eyes. But the emotion didn't last long as her sister went back to doing what she was doing, causing her to sigh.
"He is, so stop it!" Monica strictly said, but quickly went back to being cheerful.
"Monica it's ove-"
"Donna, this is just a minor hiccup in our marriage. We always fought and got through it. He will come back and we are going to sit down and talk about this." Monica smiled.
"It's over! You cheated on James and it won't be fixed by just talking. It's not one of your stupid little love quarrels that you guys would have. So snap out of it!" Donna was so confused as her sister went about her business. What was happening to her?
