Like I stated in the summary, this can be read as a standalone despite being part of a large series but it is recommended that you at least read Airplanes. Airplanes definitely can be read without reading all the other books in the Spruceworth series since the main character has never been seen before in the other books. His first appearance, along with other characters, was in Airplanes.
Also, I post this cast + characters at the beginning of every Spruceworth book but some of these characters might not even appear in this book. You don't have to focus too much on this but there is a list of relationships + a family tree that you might want to look at.
Also I am now uncomfortable that Dan is 30 *sobs in french* He was only 20 in the first book :( :( :( That being said, a lot of the cast don't look their age because they were first cast when the characters were a lot longer (like Dan) but I ain't changing their cast now.
CHARACTERS:
With a cast:
Oliver "Ollie" Asher, 17 - Narrator 1
Grant Simms, 17 - Narrator 2
Ariella Simms (27)
Calvin Eaton (26)
