Chapter 33: The Devil Works Hard But a Certain Someone Works Harder

~Ollie~

As Dad and I were standing outside of Shaw's house, waiting for him to answer the door, I stared at the text message I got on my cell phone. Something was definitely wrong with Grant.

Shaw opened the door and as soon as he did, Dad asked, "Have you by chance seen or heard from Grant?"

       "No, why?" Shaw asked.

Dad sighed heavily. "He was at the school dance with Ollie but he had to leave to go meet up with those people he got in trouble with over the summer. But he has been gone for too long."

"And you haven't heard from him?" Shaw asked me.

I didn't reply. I just handed my phone to Dad so he could look at the message he did. And judging by his reaction, I should have explained that either someone sent this for Grant or told him to send it.

Dad's face was immediately painted with anger. "Are you serious? He broke up with you again? Who does he think he is?"

"He did what?" Shaw asked so Dad handed Shaw my cell phone. His expression matched Dad's so clearly, they both didn't have much faith in Grant to begin with.

I rolled my eyes and took my cell phone back. "Grant didn't send this. Or he did but he was forced to. Things are going perfectly fine in our relationship and he literally went on multiple rants today about how he wanted to marry me."

"So... Then why did he send that?" Shaw asked.

"He had to go meet up with those guys," I said. "I've been trying to get a hold of him but he hasn't been answering. He's clearly still with them and they either forced him to text that or they did it for him. I don't know why but... He wouldn't send this."

"You better hope he didn't," Dad said. "Because I swear if he did--"

"Dad!" I said. "At least have a bit more faith in home."

"Sorry for feeling overprotective," Dad said. "I still haven't forgotten what happened the first time he broke up with you."

"Can we not talk about that right now?" I asked. "I need to find where Grant is. I have to make sure he's okay."

"Do you have any idea where he would be?" Shaw asked.

I sighed heavily. "No. I never know where Grant goes when he meets up with them. And I can't think of anywhere they would be."

"That's okay," Shaw said. "We'll go looking for him. Just keep trying to get in contact with him."

"Ollie," someone suddenly said so I turned around to see Hennessy walk over, Ernest following behind her. "Is everything okay? We saw you leave the dance in a bit of a panic."

I didn't want Hennessy to worry about her brother but she also decided to know what was going on with him. And she already had a feeling something was wrong considering she saw me leave the dance and she did follow me here.

"I think Grant's in a bit of trouble," I said. "And we have no idea where to find him."

"You can't get a hold of him?" Hennessy asked.

"I've been trying," I said. "But he isn't replying to any of my texts or calls. I mean, not really. He sent a 'break up' text but trust me, he was either forced to text it or someone texted it for him."
