Chapter 3 - The Exit

"Were you recording our whole show?" "Do you want to sell it?" "What the hell?" He kept looking at her, even more angry than before.

"I, NO!... I am not trying to sell it... I need it, please give it to me" Madeline said but sounded not as confident as she wished. Her voice was trembling.

"You are not leaving, this... this is a crime! I will have the police get you" The green-eyed boy told her. Sounding serious but not really.

"No, please no. I will do anything" Madeline cried. She would definitely do anything. It was her thesis that would get her the degree that she wanted so bad.

"Well start by telling me why you did this?" Roger asked with an angry face

"It is for my thesis"

"For your what?" roger asked confused

"I, I have to look for different patterns of sounds that correspond to phonological differences. such as British and American accents." She quickly explained in hopes that he would let her leave.

"What, what the hell does that even mean?" By the look on his face, it could be seen that he was confused. He did not know anything about the topic and how music could help that. But one thing he was sure of, the sparkle in that girls' eyes told him all he needed to know. That girl was serious, it must be important to her... not that he cares.

"I, it is hard to explain ok. Please let me leave I won't bother you again" she tried to grab her radio from his hands, but he lifted it above his head, so it was impossible for her to reach it.

"You are so going to jail" Roger said laughing at her. She was so stupid to him; did she really think she would be able to pull this off?

"Ok, you know what I just don't care, do it"

"What?" Roger said back, taken back by her response.

"Yes, do it. I will just lose everything, my future as a professional, my title, my position to get an internship for a PhD." she said trying to make him change his mind. If she made him see as if he would ruin her whole life, maybe he would let her leave

"The guitarist has one of those" he said thinking quite serious.

"A what?" Madeline asked confused.

"He's an astrophysicist with a PhD" he added looking now into her eyes curious. "You are one of those nerdy girls, aren't you?

"I, I do not define myself as one, I just simply am responsible of my future" She says in defense. Of course, she was not nerdy, she just liked to do the right thing.

"What are you anyway? What is this for?"

"I am a linguist"

"What's that stupid term? Does it even exist or are you making this up, so you can get away with it?" Roger said with a raised eyebrow. He knew he was driving the girl crazy, just as he always did with all the ladies. He had that effect on them; however, this girl was not the case.

"You are so ignorant and incredibly stupid." Madeline said rolling her eyes, already annoyed by this guys attitude. That was it, she just met him and all she could think about was to kick him in the nuts and run away. Her thoughts got interrupted by someone else's voice.

"Hey Rog, there you are. We are almost leaving for the after party aren't you joining us... there are some fine girls looking for y" a guy that looked like his band member said to him and shorty stopped talking as he saw the girl standing beside Roger. He looked at Roger with an amused expression and then added "Never mind, I'll leave you guys to it"

"What does he mea.." Madeline tried to talk but was cut off by roger "Thanks pal I really appreciate it" then wrapping an arm around Madeline. She looked at him confused about what was happening and by the looks of both guys faces, she figured out.

"How about no, I'd rather go to jail thanks" Madeline said removing Roger's arm off her with a disgusted face.

"Ouch, that must of have hurt" The guy that had a very curly hair said before leaving. Roger was so confused, he never had to deal with this type of behavior before, he could have anyone he liked but, yet this girl was rejecting him?

He kept looking at her like she was some weird alien, and Madeline was still mad at him for saying those hurtful comments about her profession. It was something to be proud of, linguistics may not be popular, but it is indeed a hard subject of study, more like a science.

"You know you cannot leave, otherwise I will not hesitate to expose you right?" Roger said to her then looking at the radio on his hand... "Unless we can come to an agreement..." He tried to imitate Madeline well speaking manner with an American accent.

"I do not even talk like that" she said kind of offended "Pal" she added with the most fake British accent trying to mock Rogers accent. He scoffed as if it was the worst thing he had ever heard. "Anyway, what kind of agreement?" Madeline said for once in her life interested on what this man had to say.

"I do not know, I have to think of a sick agreement" He said thinking on what he could make this girl do. She would agree to anything right?

"interesting" the girl said rolling her eyes once again.

"If you keep doing that your eyes will either fall off or you'll stay crossed-eyed and that's something we do not want to happen right sweetheart?" He said smiling down at her in a flirty way.

"No worries I only do that when an idiot is standing in front of me" she said smiling back with the same attitude he had.

"I bet you are thinking how good I am in bed and now you are wondering how it would be like" He leaned closer whispering in her hear. That little action sent chills down her spine and now all she could think about was that. He had indeed a very hot and flirty attitude which made Madeline feel weak sometimes, but she was not falling for his words. All he wanted was to get with her in bed.

She quickly shook her thoughts off her mind.

"What is even your name?" She said trying to provoke him.

"Fuck you" Roger said to her, before taking a few steps back " Hope you're not sad after you realize what you could of have lived tonight" He said before starting to walk away taking a huge drink off his beer.

Madeline finally left out a deep breath that she did not know she was holding and began to walk to the exit door.

She noticed that he had left her radio in a little table where he had placed his beer before and she smiled at it. What a fucking idiot she thought.

She continued to walk to the door and when she was about to close it she heard a voice behind her say "If you think this is over, you are completely wrong" before closing the door really fast.

She did not know what to do  were her first thoughts as she was leaning to the door, maybe all of that was a really bad idea, and that she was now in trouble. Other part of her told her to keep on doing this. That blonde guy whose name she recalled was roger, was no threat to her, he was just a drunk fuck boy that thought he could have anything he wanted.

She smiled down at her radio, she got away with what she wanted. She could either disappear and forget this ever happened, that blonde guy had no proof she even recorded. She opened the radio, and something was missing.

The tape.

Maybe he was not stupid at all.
