Anna's POV
Getting my eyes open this morning was quite the struggle, just as it as it was most mornings. Took me quite a while to slowly blink the light away and slowly focus my vision until I greet the white ceiling, my old friend. I groan, waking up at 10 am is way to early! How are people expected to be productive and decently humored at such early hours? Well, turns out I didn't wake up at 10 am, I woke at 10:45! "Shit!" I cuss loudly, quickly pouncing out of bed, and instantly making my way into my bathroom. I run past the large cream stone countertop, immediately turning the faucet and watching as the water sprouts out from the shower head and how within a millionth of a second those same droplets, splash on the floor, no longer an individual but a body of water. 'Wow, way too deep for the morning' I whisper, chuckling softly at myself before swiftly stipping out of my pajamas and crashing under the warm water. I promise I tried to be as quick as I possibly could but, when you are auditioning other actors you need to look semi-professional, meaning, I need to wear makeup and pick a decent outfit. Of course, I did spend some time grabbing myself a coffee from Starbucks, the drive-thru, of course, we have no moments to spare, I got myself, Sky and Liz a steaming latte as we all had a common favorite warm beverage. If you are going to show up late, at least bring coffee people!
During the car ride I wonder about what we would encounter today, as well as who would be the 'chosen one', what would they be like? Well, I can tell you they will be a female but, that is all I can say really. It's been three exhaustive days of auditions, searching vigorously for the perfect new main interest within the movie. The screenwriters believed that the old Bellas, even the new Bellas had started to get saturated and the series was starting to lose momentum, there was an easily visible change in the crowd engagement, this movie had to be monstrous, possibly being the last journey told in this specific series. The key to success of the last movies was the characters and the charisma that seemed to capture all those who watched the movie, we need someone who is just right for the role, someone versatile and charming that could bring the final character of importance to life.
The hotel where auditions were taking place came to view and I bounce back from my black hole of a brain. Pulling up into the parking lot I quickly park my car, which is saying a lot since parallel parking isn't exactly my forte, then I start running through the concrete ground, I really need to get to that audition room, I'm 30 minutes late by now! I find myself screaming as I enter the blank room, fresh and ready to work, the screams consisted of an assortment of "I'm sorry" and "I'm here". Sky was hysterically laughing, clutching his stomach snorts and crumpled faces filling the room, I clumsily sat down in between both of them smiling guiltily to Elizabeth, who had the complete opposite expression to Sky, she looks fucking pissed. One look at her face and I started to try and explain myself. What? A girl has to try! Still smiling I hand her the coffee hoping that will be enough to convince her I don't suck as much. It seems to work as she stops glaring at me and simply nods. I guess me moved of from glare to silent treatment, I'll take it! As soon as Sky calms down auditions start.
The first girl comes in, she is sporting a red dress and heavy makeup. Her delivery of the lines wasn't bad, I would almost say good, but, something didn't feel exactly right, she just didn't have the wow factor we were looking for in this role specifically, Liz even considered calling her back in for a second audition if we found no one more suitable for the role. Elisabeth and Sky agree that we should keep the search going and try and find 'the one' we are looking for. Handfuls of nervous girls in dresses, pass by, I really am started to get bored by the exact same aesthetic the seem to have co-ordinated between themselves. Well, that was until she walked in, her relaxed look really was refreshing after the past neurotic personalities we have just seen, even if her personality shows a hint of chill her eyes are very expressive and show a slight level of nervousness, I instantly like her more than all the others. Her slow and steady stride towards the middle of the room shows off her tall (but not excessively tall) physic as well as her golden tan. Her chestnut hair flow down her black Nirvana t-shirt in loose natural curls. Her style was also a lot more captivating as a character. You might not agree but, it is very important to dress similar to your character during you auditions, as we wanted to find the right one we tried to leave it up to the contestants as we wanted to see their ideal on the character, so it was incredibly unique that she found it according to wear red vans and ripped jeans as a female character, it was quite liberating and innovative.
She stands in the middle of the room and says. "Hi, my name is Alex Donato and it's a pleasure to meet all of you." I smile at her and I can see her soft smile. I then speak up. "You may start." She takes a deep breath closes her eyes and when she opens then she's a whole different person there is sadness and anger in her eyes and voice and I can hear and feel the same feeling coming from her that I have when I'm playing Beca. When she finishes we all clap. She just clears her eyes and she is back to normal she leaves the room and I turn to Elisabeth and I say.
"Hh , Hi, my name is Alex Donato and it's a pleasure to meet all of you." She introduces herself, bringing everyone's attention her way. Her slight nervous stutter was also an interesting factor as it made her feel human, different to the last girl who all seemed to end up reminding me of a robot, who was forced to dress and act like a human girl, with her it was like that, she just was a free kindred spirit, let's hope she can use that to her advantage when we start to delivery. Silence fills the room as we try and give her time to prepare for the delivery of the first line. Something about her preparation is also vastly divergent to the other girls "I can't do this Becca! This is not the person I am, I can barely recognize whoever this is, and I hate it! I want to be able to love, and smile and whatever normal people do but, that's not who I am. I won't just be the person that stands back and watches as all the people she knows leave." All our mouths hang slightly in shock, her delivery was quite different, actually, there were a few intonations and mannerisms she had added as extras that really gave a lot more interest to her delivery. I quickly try and recover to answer my life. "You can do whatever you want dear, it is time for you to decide. Many years ago I had to the lead and call the shots, and that was a decision I was willing to make, I stood up for what I believed in and I don't regret it in any way. You can stay if you so desire, but you can also leave go, live your life. I'll be here, I promise. What I can not take is having you do what doesn't make you happy." I really did try to tune myself into a similar aspect to give her the best chance she possibly could get.The next line was delivered with just as much precision as the previous one. "I don't know what makes me happy. How can I be expected to know this kind of thing right now! I'm barely out of college, my parents are literally going to kill me if I take this job offer. So no Beca, I don't know what I want! And It's unfair that everyone expects me to know and understand exactly what I want!" It was only now that I could properly see her face, her facial expression really showing the desperation she was trying to indicate her character was feeling, her hazel eyes glistening with tears. "Yes you do. You just don't know what you are ready to give up." I say ending the audition. Liz makes sure to thank her and explain some details while Sky and I just smile and watch. After one last look at all of us she leaves, a slight smile listening to her face making her cheekbones even more sleek and perfect.
As soon as she left the room I broke the silence, stating with a large amount of "She's the one." God, I had no idea how right I was.
