The depths of the world

Chapter 3

I sat by the window of my room. It had been three days since what had happened with Melissa. It had startled me and it left me with a scar on my back which wasn't too noticeable compared to the markings which was already there. Markus now insists to the warlock clan that he lets me join there side as the other two clans want me dead.

      The warlocks are still guarding my house. They havent left yet which is a pain. I'm hoping I'll be able to go out soon. I sat on the couch and began to read again. An hour later I got bored and decided to get somthing to eat.

      I got up and walked to my kitchen. I opened the fridge and peered inside. I took out cheese , ham and butter and made myself a sandwich..I sat on the counter top and ate the sandwich.

        The doorbell rang so I stood up ,  walked to my bag and took out my knife. I placed the knife behind my back , out of view , just like I'd been taught. I opened the door a little bit , enough to see who was on the other side.Standing there was Markus with a letter in his hand. I took the knife from behind my back and I let him in and we walked into the living room and sat down on the couch.

    "So I'm assuming the letter is for me Markus. So who's it from?" , I asked .

"It's from the warlock clan" , he said as he passed me the letter .

    I opened it and began to read:

Dear Miss Alexander Nightingale;

We have heard about a recent attack on you by one of the clans. We have heard in recent news from Markus that both the vampire clan and the werewolf clan want you dead. We are happy to say that our clan will welcome you with open arms as a conjurance and will be able to teach you new things. We have also heard that Markus has already been teaching you elemental magic. This is your choice to join our clan but we believe you have no other option at this point. We hope you accept this invitation.

     I looked up at Markus. He was looking back at me with pleading eyes. I knew then I had to join. This was my only chance to find out what's going on and to stop this war.
 
   "Where's the headquarters?", I asked.

   "Florida in America " , he said.

     "It's a long way away so we should get a plane there then"

   "Yes we should. So your agreeing to go ?"

  "Yes i am , it's about time I help"

  "Very well give me a minute and I will book the plane"

     Markus left the room and I was left alone to gather my thoughts. It's weird being apart of something that you thought you would never be apart of. I knew I'd do everything it takes to stop this war. A few minutes later Markus came back into the room and said to me that the plane leaves in three hours. 

      I ran up the stairs and packed my stuff as fast as I could. I made sure I packed clothes , knives and other essentials. I ran back down the stairs and loaded my bag into his car which was parked in the carpark. We drove to His house and he collected his stuff , which wasnt much , and we left for the airport.

       It was an hours drive and we got there in the nick of time. After a few minutes of sorting everything out we were on the plane. About an hour later it took off.

    Markus sat next to me. He had bought seccond class seats towards the back of the plane. I sat by the window and gazed out. It was my first time flying but I wasnt scared at all. Half an hour later we could take off our seatbelts. I got up and went to the toilet.

   As I walked out a woman was standing with her back to me. She was tall and had her black hair in a bun. Suddenly she spun around and kicked me back to the bathroom. She lunged , grabbing my throat. I tried to shout for Markus but it was no use. Suddenly a man grabbed her and pulled the woman away.

   I struggled to breathe. My head spinning. The man shouted something and opened the emergency door. He suddenly threw the woman out of the plane. He closed the door and walked up to me. Before he could reach me Markus pushed passed him and helped me sit up but I blacked out.

   An hour later I woke up , sat in my seat again. Markus was gone but replaced by the man who had helped me. I could see him clearly now. He was wearing a nice suit with short , black hair and sunglasses. I looked at his shoes and they where polished. The man turned and looked at me.

    "How are you feeling?" , he asked.

     "Better thank you. Thanks for saving my life" , I said.

     "No problem"

     "Who was she"

      "She wasnt a vampire so I'm assuming shes a werewolf"

     "Oh" , was all I could answer. I didn't know what to think. I'm almost certain it's the werewolves that want me dead now.

    The man stood and walked away. He accidentally dropped his wallet. I picked it up and look for a form of identification. He had a driving licence which had expired two months ago. His name was Jacob Scott. He didn't have much money , £20 at most. I decided to get up and find him. I walked to the front of the plane and there he was talking to Markus.

    "Excuse me... you dropped this", I said handing him the wallet.

   "Thank you" , he replied opening the wallet checking if everything was still there.

   "Dont worry Alex , it wont be long until we land" , said Markus.

   I nodded and walked back to my seat. Jacob must have been a warlock. He seemed important whoever he was. I sat down , putting in my headphones listening to music on my phone. The woman announced that we were landing. I buckled my seatbelt just as Markus returned to his seat next to me.

   "So who was that ? " , I questioned taking one of the ear phones out.

   "Just one of the warlocks. He was the one in charge of watching over your flat when your friend attacked"

     "Oh that's interesting", I said slowly.

   Suddenly the plane came to a stop and I took off the seatbelt. I stood , grabbing my bag and walked off the plane , Markus and Jacob following behind.

    The airport was very big and full of rushing people either waiting to get on a plane or gather there bags to leave. We quickly passed through security and gathered our bags. A black limo was waiting for us outside the airport. We got in and started to drive to the main warlock centre.
