Once upon a time, you had been best friends.

It was a classic childhood friendship. You had lived in houses next door to one another, windows facing each other. The second you had moved in, Jin had loved you. Of course, he was four and didn't really understand love, he was mostly happy to have someone to play with.

He didn't care at all that you were a girl, walking right over with his Batman action figure and introducing him to your own toy and the rest was history.

You were fast friends, having play dates everyday and secretly having little conversations through your windows at night. You adored each other. As you got older, things didn't change.

All through elementary school and middle school, you and Jin were still the best of friends, holding hands and sharing secrets. You don't mind that Jin always wants to touch your hair and walk with you everywhere and hold your hand. You liked the way he looked at you and the little notes you would pass in class. You started noticing that he could be jealous though, to the point where he would be a little bit mean to other kids and they would avoid the two of you.

You never minded though.

You never judged and neither did he. Lost in your own little world, you were perfectly happy as a pair. He was a true friend which was why your heart was broken when he was sent away. With your world coming down around you, it was like you could barely breathe or think. You burst into tears when your parents told you, asking why your best friend was suddenly gone, without so much as a goodbye.

"His parents sent him to boarding school. I'm sorry, honey..." your mother said.

You got the feeling that she wasn't sorry at all. There was a certain tone in her voice, a nervous look in her eyes. You heard your parents whispering later, only catching snippets of the quiet conversation.

"Obsessed..."

"Something wrong with..."

"Needed to..."

"Crazy..."

"He beat that poor..."

"Jin..."

Jin? Jin wasn't crazy. They didn't know what they were talking about.

You knew him better then anyone. He was sweet and protective and intelligent. You became angry, remembering all of the times your mother and step father had tried to force you on other friends. Sleepovers that you hadn't known about until the night of, strange kids at your birthday parties, all of those awkward play dates.

"Come on, sweetie, don't you want to play with someone other then Jin?" They had said.

You were certain that they had helped send him away, just to separate the two of you. Just to hurt you. The anger that ran through you was cooled only by one thought:

"I'll see him again. Jin will come back for me. I'll wait for him."

From then on, your parents pretended that Jin never existed. You played along, hiding your pictures of him and the notes. Late at night, you would sit by your window and look at them, holding the teddy bear he had given you and wishing desperately that he was with you again.

"I'll wait for you, Jin..."

~

He had waited so long for this.

When he had first been sent away, Jin had been heart broken. Angry. Upset. He had fought against everyone, determined to get back home. To get back to Y/N. It had quickly dawned on him that fighting was going to get him nowhere.

They people at this school thought there was something wrong with him. He was, they said, obsessed with Y/N. He had done bad things because of her but that didn't make him a bad person.

How dare they! How dare they blame her for anything! It was obsession, it was love, true love! They didn't know ANYTHING. As angry as he was, Jin learned to play their game. It had taken years but he had finally convinced them that he was cured. He acted like they were right, he had been sick but he was better now. It took him years but soon the staff and his parents had bought it.

"Besides," he overheard his doctors say, "the girl and her family left. They didn't keep any close contact, last they heard she was in University."

University...Jin smiled, a plan forming in his head.

He finally came home after all these years, still playing their game. He talked about how sorry he was for before, how excited he was to start over, to go to school.

"I graduated with top marks and a clean bill of health! Do you think I could go to university?"

"Of course, Jin." His parents had smiled.

It wasn't hard to track her down, he had made a lot of friends and connections at school. He wasn't the only one who could play pretend. Boys just like him. One of those friends was able to find out where she was living now and what school she went to. Jin got in easily, eager to return to your side.

It was on his first day that he found you, walking to your class with your nose in a book. You were...you were beautiful. So beautiful. His heart stopped for a moment and Jin felt like he was falling in love all over again.

"Y/N?" He asked quietly.

You looked at and stared at him for a second. Jin worried that you didn't know him, that you had forgotten him, until you smiled. Dropping your book, you ran into his arms.

"Jin! Jin, you're here, you're back!"

Oh, god, he was so happy right now, smiling brightly as you hugged. He held you tight, spinning you around as you laughed. People glared but the two of you ignored them, too lost in your own world to even care.

"I was scared I would never see you again..." you whispered.

"I know, I'm sorry." He replied.

You kissed his cheek, a little spark shooting down his spine when you did. You told him again and again that you had missed him so much, that you had been waiting for his return. It made him feel so loved, knowing that you had waited all this time.

"I've been so lonely without you." You said.

"Me too." Jin replied.

It was exciting, how quickly you settled back into old ways. Jin moved into your apartment complex, right next door to you, when you told him about the vacancy (not knowing that he had already rented it) and your friendship grew even stronger this time.

Now there were no parents to ruin things.

No doctors to spread lies.

No one to interrupt this.

There was absolutely no one that could keep Jin away from you. Sending him away had only made him smarter, stronger. He had learned quite a few tricks that would help his plans. He had dreamed of your future, how happy he would make you.

All his life, Jin had wanted you all to himself. And now...he was going to make that dream come true.

Never again would Jin allow himself to be separated from you. Never.
