Nick and Anna have been going out together for about two months now. I am really happy for him, I love to see him happy, I just wish he was happy with me. When I open my eyes I look at my phone, its six o'clock, and it's my birthday. I'm 18.

It's crazy how fast this year has gone, its already Friday, the 29th of December! I can't wait to celebrate my 18th with Nick. I have to go to school because, the school is very strict, so I decide to check my phone I see if I've gotten a birthday wish from Nick yet.

Nick: hey, I'm sorry I can't walk with you to school today.

Smiling, I think that maybe he's planning something for tonight, considering we spend every birthday together, having a sleep over. Going downstairs I smile at my mum. "Happy birthday to you, you live in a zoo, you look like a monkey and you smell like one too."She sings, my mother is just like me, completely tone death and can't sing at all... I mean... I can't talk but still.

"Thank you" I smile. She hands me a gift bag. Inside the gift bag is an envelope and earrings from an expensive jewelry store. Inside the envelope is $100. Jumping up I hug her and say

"Thank you. Mum, Nick can't walk with me to school today... I don't really feel like walking by myself... could you be amazing and give me a lift?"

"Okay. But you owe me. Why can't Nick give you a lift? Isn't he coming to school today?"

"I don't know. But I will let you know, so you can pick me up if you have to. Thank you."

When I finally got to school I heard talking about Nick and Anna. "Did you hear? He brought tickets for them to go to that new theme park. They're staying at a hotel, they're going to be gone all weekend."

"Aw how romantic." Sighing I walk into the ladies room, and call him.

"Hey are you coming to school today at all?"

"No. I'm at the theme park with Anna. I'm having a blast. Thank you."

"Do you kn-"

"I've gotta go. By Abs, love ya."

After he hung up I texted my mum telling her that I would need a ride home this afternoon, and I then proceeded to have the worst day ever. When school finished I walked to my mum's car and sobbed. "What's wrong. Bad day?" My mother asked.

"Nick is at the theme park with Anna and he won't be back until Sunday."

"Oh honey, I'm going to call Sarah."

"Hey, it's me.... I'm great.... yeah..... no.... she's in the car with me crying her little heart out.... What? He told you that? When he gets home don't remind him.... yeah....exactly.... bye."

"So what happened?" I asked her, sobbing.

"We're not going to remind him. When he comes here to pick you up on Monday morning, you won't be here because I'm taking you to school, and I'll pick you up. If he calls you on the phone ignore him. If he tries to talk to you at school, ask him the date. If that doesn't work then we'll get Sarah to ask him how the trip was and if I loved my birthday weekend then we wait and watch the fun."

"What do you mean... ask about the trip?"

"Oh it seems that Nick told is mother he was taking you out for the weekend."

"You're kidding right?"

"Nope."

When I get home I go straight to my room, and cry all weekend. On Monday morning I still feel terrible and I head to the car after getting dressed. On the way we pass Anna and Nick heading to my house.

Knocking on the door I look inside the window, looking at Anna I ask "where is she?" She just shruggs. I try to call her but it just rings out. Getting in the car I drive to school. As I walk in I notice Abigale standing by her locker. "Hey."

"What are you doing, why are you talking to me at school?"

"Because we're friends and I'm not going to pretend we're not. Where were you this morning? I went to pick you up and you weren't there! You could of texted me."

"Sorry, I got a ride from mum." She shrugged.

"Oh, why are you upset at me?" I asked.

"I never said I was. Oh do you know the date?" She spat,

"Uh, December 2nd"

"Cool, bye."

"Bye."

After school I waited by my car for Abi, because Anna went home early with a bad headache, when I saw her walk right past me. " Hey, aren't I giving you a ride?"

"Nope." When I get home I hear my mum sat bye on the phone.

"Hey mum."

"Hey, I haven't seen you since Thursday afternoon. How was your weekend with Abi?
Did she have a good weekend?"

"Uh yeah."

"Why are you lying to me?" She yelled, how did she know. "You went away with another girl. Who this time?"

"My girlfriend."

"Okay.... What was the date on Friday?"

"The 29th I think."

"And what is so special about that day."

"I don't know?!"

"Let me guess Abi was mad at you today."

"How'd you know."

"You're so stupid. It was her birthday."

"No! No,no,no,no,no,no, no."

"Yep, her mum rang and asked where you were. She spent the weekend crying, because she thought that you didn't want to be friends anymore."

"That's not true, why would she think that!?"

"Well you forgot her birthday. You're her only friend, she spent it alone."

Running upstairs to my room I grabbed the necklace I brought her and got into my car, driving to the cheap store, I brought three pink helium balloons and then a bouquet of peachy coloured buttercups and drove to her house. Knocking on the door, it opens revealing, Rosanna. "Hey, can I talk to her, please."

"No."

"I need to see her"

"She doesn't want to see you"

"Please"

"No. Don't ever talk to her again, you forgot her birthday. Her 18th. She spent the night here all by herself on her birthday and was bored because you forgot, you're her only friend remember in the world. No one else knew. Not only that you didn't even remember by yourself, your mother had to remind you. And the fact that you took the pass to take your girlfriend, that theme park and took credit for the idea is terrible. Did you know that she brought it with her three months savings so you and Abs could spend time together without anyone bothering you , because you hadn't spend time together without anyone bothering you, for ages. Nick never come here again. You broke her heart. For the first time ever she changed her number because of you. Goodbye."

"Just give her this, please."

"Okay, now go."
