Martin Reorgger steps out onto this new planet orbiting a new sun. Reorgger had been part of a daring mission planning to explore potential livable worlds within this new solar system. A wormhole orbiting Mars led them to this new solar system. At first probes were sent to see what was on the other side of this wormhole. The probes discovered potential livable planets. Humans were eventually sent to explore the surface of the planets the probes discovered.
For every planet the probes discovered, an astronaut would be sent with enough supplies to last them a year along with a cryogenic sleep tank so they could stretch that year out. If the planet proved livable then the astronaut would press a button that would send a signal back to earth. If the planet was unlivable then the astronaut who was sent there made a sacrifice for humanity.
At first Reorgger's planet seemed like world of made up of entirely water but then he saw the land. In fact the new planet not only proved livable but it also had signs of intelligent life. He even saw cities that were surrounded by castle walls as he was making his descent. In another words he had to avoid castles as well as trees. At first he wasn't sure what he saw, but after he flew over a good four he realrized that this planet was inhabited by creatures who are intelligent enough to build cities surrounded by castle walls. He would later realize that these creatures aren't much different than him.
He had trouble finding a place to land. Once he found a good spot to, but before he could descend he was over water again. He entered the atmosphere just as dusk was approaching. He couldn't see anyone on the ground because he was too high up. He wasn't sure he wanted to land near a city since he didn't know the occupants of this new world.
After awhile of looking for a spot to land he realized that he was losing daylight. He decided to land his craft in the middle of the continent or so he thought. He really didn't know land layouts or much about this world. All he knew is he was heading in the direction opposite the setting sun and he needed to land soon.
He finally landed his lander on the southern side of a peninsula jutting out into a narrow sea. He decided to land on a beach After he landed he decided he should hunker down for the night. He would do some exploring the next day with Lance his robot. His lander was single stage craft that had a living quarters attached to it.
The next day he stepped out of the lander and onto this new world. He found that the air was breathable and the temperature was in the mid to upper 70s. However it was a bit buggy when there wasn't a breeze. He decided to explore the beach with Lance. To the north was a piney forest to the south was water. He and Lance decided to walk east at first but before long they ran out of land and had to turn back. That night before he went to sleep he pressed the button to alert NASA that he had found a habitual world.
