A/N: I'm going to make the rest of the book in third person POV. Just a heads up. Sorry if this confuses you.

Gabriel smiled to himself knowing that Elizabeth had felt the same way he did when their eyes locked.  'This is going to be a good school year,' he thought to himself. However, that Aaron guy was eyeing Johanna, he was going to be a problem. With an arm thrown over Johanna's shoulder, a promise was made to continue protecting her to make up for the times he couldn't.

Feeling nostalgic, Johanna sunk into his side sighing in comfort. "I never did find out which family adopted you in Gabe."

Clearing out his throat with a cough, "The Phillips adopted me. Caring parents, tolerable little brother, middle class, and they have a dog so that's a plus. Jelly, an English bulldog, is an angel."

"I'm glad a nice family took you in." Johanna's voice sounded distanced. Suspicious of Johanna's sudden withdrawal, he was determined to find out just what had happened while he was gone. Arriving at the front office, Johanna offered a smile to the school receptionist, who returned it with wrinkles framing her aging face.

"Morning Johanna, running errands for Mr. Augustine?" Mrs. Tate kindly asked.

"No, not today Mrs. Tate. I was just showing my friend here around the school. He needs his schedule, the name Gabriel Phillips please."

"Mr. Phillips, welcome to SilverCreek High. This is your schedule and locker combination. I'm positive Ms. Price will tour you around the school and lead you to your classes." Mrs. Tate handed Gabriel his schedule and locker slip. "Enjoy your senior year!" Gabriel was staring at the posters and flyers up at the bulletin. Glancing at a list of mentioned names, a proud smile tugged on his lips.

Waving Mrs. Tate goodbye, Johanna took Gabriel's schedule and breathed a sigh of relief. "Okay, you have Calculus with me. Also, Study Hall and Lunch with me and my friends. Your locker is across from the Study Hall. I'll show you that first and then your classes in order along with the cafeteria. I'm pretty sure we have enough time for a quick round so you won't be late for class."

With a crooked smile on Gabriel's face, he mock saluted Johanna at her orders. She glared at him, but he laughed in return. "I'm glad I know SilverCreek's valedictorian, I can actually do well this year." Gabriel pondered teasingly.

Johanna shook her head and tsked. "You along with everyone else. Now I don't have a problem with you getting along with my friends." Gabriel laughed and followed Johanna through the hallways.

Arriving first in Study Hall, Johanna proceeded to take out the needed notes and prepare the white board. With a discarded cloth towel, she wiped the board clean and drew a cartoon wolf with markers. She was satisfied with her drawing and set the marker down as soon as students started to fill the room.

Christine and Rhea came dashed through the door and spotted Johanna behind her 'teachers' desk. Running not so gracefully around the scattered chairs, they made it towards to Johanna almost tripping but caught her to gain balance. Unfortunately, this resulted them in all tumbling down to the floor.

"W-what's going on?" Johanna wheezed under the weight of the two girls. "Is there a fire? Who died?"

"Nothing," Rhea said simply from her spot at the top of the pile.

Scowling, Johanna tried to escape from the tangled limbs but was unsuccessful. The girls were satisfied at capturing Johanna and just laid there. A cough brought their attention to the unknown green-eyed man. Stuck in a trance, Johanna tried once more to move away, her legs beginning to numb. Seeing her in distress, Gabriel grabbed her hands and managed to pull her up to her feet, careful not to harshly push away Christine and Rhea in the process.
