Serenity was a funny and kind woman, she reminded me of Stacey. I could almost see many similarities but I must be in over my head. Though I can see through her white lies, she says she is okay but I can tell by the tone of her voice that something is wrong. I learned to see through people like this when I met Katherine, just have to look for the signs.
"You know, Katherine has actually been through Hell. Like the real deal, fortunately for her, she had me. If she was alone then there would be no chance in bringing her back," I stated. Though the thought of Hell was more of a dream rather than reality.
"Also, we should start heading to the council. Katherine and the others are waiting for us, um I can think that there is one member currently out. Something had gone wrong and I pray that they're okay,"
"Oh, so Katherine has actually experienced actual Hell? That's terrifying if you think about it. I mean, all that pain going through your body, how does one handle such suffering?" Serenity questioned, I didn't feel like explaining at the moment so I had promised that I'd explain as soon as we arrived at the council.
As if things were bad enough, once we stepped into the car. We both smelled the scent of withering corpses, the air inside the vehicle was also very thick so we ended up getting out of the car immediately. I searched for the scent but the vehicle was cleared of everything, I knew it wasn't me because Serenity also had a taste of the scent.
"What the hell is that scent?" Serenity asked. "Wait, the car is cleaned. What the heck? I am so confused, are we just--" I cut her off. "No, the entity is playing with us like we're her puppets. Nothing is really there, let's go."
We hopped back into the car and this time the scent had faded into nothing but fresh air, on our way to the council there was a sign that read, "To win, you must lose!" I hadn't seen a sign like that since Katherine and I started working together, we had come up to form a business to help people that are depressed and need help. I never mentioned the sign and I thought it was better if I hadn't.
"So, are you and Katherine together? I ask because I see you both with each other a lot, and I've noticed that there is not a single man in that house, which makes me question, why?" Serenity asked.
"No, Katherine and I are just friends. We met each other back in high school, we weren't treated so nicely..." I paused, but couldn't remember what I was going to say. Serenity tries to help me remember.
"By men? Is that why you aren't around any guys?"
"No, it isn't just men, there were some girls that gave me a look that said 'You aren't needed here', but I didn't really care because they wouldn't go near me, because I'm a goth as well, I mean. It's my style, there isn't a reason to be so judgy. But you know how people are, there is only a few good people in this world."
"Yes, that is true," Serenity whispered. "I become so sick of people too, it drives me insane. I open up to people and they just throw me away as if I am not any use." Serenity was nearly crying so I changed the subject.
"This Samantha that has been in a coma, she is still alive after ten years, apparently it's not any normal coma."
"Well that's impressive, she's still alive? After ten years?! That's a really long time, I don't think I'd last that long, probably not even a month?" Serenity said in shock.
I couldn't seem to get my head around all that was happening, is there really a demon after us or are we just crazy? If this is true, will we make it out alive? I feel a chill down my back, seems a like a coincidence but I could hear Angel whispering to me, attempting to convince me that this is real.
"Have you heard of Sin?" Serenity asked, I was shocked, everyone knows sin.
"Well, of course I know sin, it's the wrongs we commit, who doesn't know sin? If you don't know sin, then what life are you living?" I replied, I was a little confused but not mad.
"No, not that sin. Never mind, I'll explain another time. For now, where are we at? Is this where you work?" Serenity asked. "Yes, yes it is. Let's go, you are welcome to join us if you want." I offered.
Serenity thought for a moment, we walked in as she decided to choose between waiting or joining the council. "Yes, I'll join you."
As soon as we walk into the room, there is silence. Katherine and everyone member of the council sat patiently, waiting for us.
"It's about time you finally get here, though I have been listening to some interesting stories from everyone," Katherine said, she seemed a bit neutral. Showing no emotions and keeping a straight face. I wondered to myself, "Why is she showing no emotions?" but more importantly, why does she seem so calm all of a sudden?
"What's with that expression on your face, Sarah?"
"Oh, I'm just wondering to myself. Um, are you feeling okay?" I asked.
Katherine gave me a blank stare for a moment, and the room was silent. "I woke fine, however, when I got here, I haven't been feeling the same, I waited for everyone to get here, as soon as there were enough members. We proceeded with the stories, I have already talked to Carlos, he's just here listening now until his parents come to pick him up."
"Okay then, I see. Though what feels different about you since you set foot into this room?" I asked.
Katherine stood up and slowly approached me, by the time she in front of my face, she leans up to me and whispers, "I feel like there is someone else in the room, watching us."
