(Loki x Reader)
The morning was beautiful. The sun shown in all its glory, the birds sang their melodious songs and the breeze breathed life into everything. You, however, could relate to none of that. Eyes half drooping with sleep, you trudged into the kitchen and almost walked into the fridge.
"Careful there, kiddo." Tony spoke between sips of coffee. You hummed vaguely in response. Grabbing the first thing you found in the refrigerator, which just so happened to be a bowl of chicken nuggets, you shoved it in the microwave.
"Good morning, (Y/N)." Steve greeted as he passed a glass of kale smoothie to you. You eyed the drink up and down. Steve was a dearie but sometimes you wanted to punch his lights out. "It's morning alright. Whether or not it's good is a whole other question entirely." You turned away to grab your breakfast when the microwave beeped.
A squeal escaped your lips when instead of the nuggets, live chicken came running out of the microwave. "Dad!" You screamed. "Thor!" Tony screamed in return as he rushed to your aid. "Loki!" Thor put aside the newspaper he had been reading.
"What?" Loki nonchalantly asked, without once lifting his gaze from the Rubic's cube he had in his hands. Thor sighed. "Brother, why do you keep troubling Lady (Y/N) with such tricks? You have been reprimanded to stay on midgard so you can understand its culture and respect its people."
"I can assure you, I had nothing to do with what just happened." Loki feigned innocence. Tony did a double take. "You wanna go, Reindeer games?"
Loki flicked his wrist and the chicken turned back into nuggets. "I suppose you are satisfied now. Do not mind bothering me for the rest of the day." He tossed the cube to Clint and walked out of the room.
Much against Tony's will, you followed Loki to his quarters. He was sitting on his bed, reading a book. Indeterminately, you knocked on the door. "Mr. Laufeyson?"
"Do not trouble yourself with courtesies, mortal. Let me know if you have lost the ability to hear as I vividly remember telling every single one of you not to disturb me until the day is over." Loki's remark slid off you like water over plastic. "So, whatcha readin'?" You asked as you entered his room. It did not escape your notice that he did not object to your entry. Moreover, his eyes flitted over to you for a millisecond before landing back on the book.
"I believe it is none of your concern." As much as he hated to admit it to himself, Loki was distracted. Your presence made him distracted. "I believe it is when the book you are reading belongs to me." You crossed your arms over your chest, "You do realize that means you were in my room at some point, don't you?"
"I never said that." Loki snapped the book shut, eyes glued to the floor. Your glare was unforgiving. "That's the only logical inference."
"Nevertheless, I did not say it. What are you doing here?" Loki looked up into your eyes and for a moment lost all purpose of conversation. "When were you in my room?" Your voice was stern.
The God of mischief panicked internally. You were upset. He never meant to make you upset. Even the tricks he played on you, they were always harmless. "What were you doing in my room?" You asked again, a little louder this time.
"I was merely canvassing the build-" Loki began but you cut him off. "My room is not open to public access!"
"My lady, listen to me." Loki stood up to his full height. "This punishment that Father gave me can be exceedingly difficult at times. During said times, I lose all vision, the purpose as to which I am here. My past actions haunt me to this day. So, yes, to anchor me back again I come to watch you sleep. I-It grounds me."
"You do what?" Your eyes went wide. Extremely anxious, he took your hands in his. "Lady (Y/N), my intentions were not foul."
You quickly pulled them away. "I don't care how tasteful your intentions are, oh my God, Loki, you can't watch me sleep! How long have you been doing it? Does dad know? Of course he doesn't or you would be locked up in a padded cell right now!"
"I am a bad person." Loki's dull tone made you stop at once, "I am a bad person known for doing terrible things. I am a monster. Then why is it that me doing something which is not strictly good disturbs you so much?"
"Because I like you!" You blurted out, "Is that what you were waiting to hear? You can't keep pulling stuff like this, stuff that makes it uncomfortable to be around you because.... I like you."
"I suppose I do like you in return." Loki smirked, it was heavenly to finally confess how he felt. You smiled with heated cheeks. "If we're gonna do something about our mutual liking, you're gonna have to stop watching me sleep. And start calling me (Y/N)."
"If you're open to letting me watch you while you are awake, I would not have to resort to that option." Loki smiled as you sat down beside him, "Do you think your father will approve?"
You rested your head on his shoulder. "Seeing as you threw him out his own window, no, I don't think he would." You giggled, "This is going to be one hell of an adventure."
Loki placed a kiss in your hair. "It is."
