It was a normal Saturday afternoon for Patton, he was sat on the couch, watching a Disney movie and eating a crofters sandwich. Just as the movie finished, Patton heard a gentle knock on his front door. He didn't answer it, instead he sat and hoped the knocking would go away. It didn't. Another knock sounded that was louder and more desperate than the first. Patton switched off the TV and opened the door to find Virgil, his lip was split and he was sobbing quietly. Patton stepped to the side, allowing the broken boy before him to enter. He closed the door behind him before pulling Virgil into a tight, comforting hug.

"What's wrong?" Patton asked, concern lacing his voice.

"I-Is anybody else here?" Virgil questioned through a vale of tears.

Patton shook his head and led Virgil upstairs to his room, where they then sat beside one another on the bed. Just as he had done the day previous, Patton put a hand to Virgil's cheek and wiped away his tears.

"W-what's wrong, Virgil?" Patton asked again with the same concern in his voice.

"Y-your lip..." he whispered.

"It was m-my father!" Virgil blurted out, regretting it as soon as the words left his mouth.

"He always argues with my mother... I-I tried t-to help!" more tears fell, staining his cheeks.

"How long has this been happening?" Patton queried, his worry evident in his voice and eyes.

"Three y-years"

Patton pulled Virgil into a hug again and Virgil buried his head into his crush's shoulder.

"Did he do that to your eye too?" he asked gently, trying not to push Virgil.

Virgil nodded, his tears soaking Patton's top.

"Why- why didn't you tell me?"

"If he'd have found out you knew, he would've hurt me, or you... I was scared! It's not like you can help me anyway." Virgil replied.

"I can get you out of that house! Stay here, for tonight at least?" Patton suggested, desperate to keep Virgil safe.

"What a-about your p-parents? Won't they mind?" he asked worried.

"They're never home! Always on business trips or holidays..."

Virgil pulled away from the hug and smiled sadly.

"I wouldn't want to impose..." Virgil stated.

"It's not an imposition. Just, stay here... I want you to be safe"

Virgil nodded. He could sense just how much Patton cared for his safety and wellbeing. Patton smiled happily at Virgil and pulled him back downstairs to watch a film with him. He gave his crush the TV remote, allowing him to pick which movie they watched.
